I wonder how long it'll take for them to be coached up...Psshh... we're going to draft three starting OL.
By a new OL coach?I wonder how long it'll take for them to be coached up...
Maybe wishful thinking on my part.
One of the reports I'm hoping to read is that Devlin has been fired. He sucks. I didn't think he was that good when he was with the Jets and wondered why the Texans hired him. That clown gotta go.By a new OL coach?
Well if O'Brien's presser is any indicator, he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He appears as connected to OB as Rick was with the McNairs for all those yearsOne of the reports I'm hoping to read is that Devlin has been fired. He sucks. DammitWell if O'Brien's presser is any indicator, he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He appears as connected to OB as Rick was with the McNairs for all those years
yup, and this is where having a GM and coach perfectly aligned can rear it's ugly head. Much like when Kubs was forced to move on from Richard Smith, it looks like O'Brien needs someone to force him to move on from Devlin. Hopefully Gaine isn't so aligned that he is buying into Devlin how OB already hasDammit
Gaines is unfortunately Rick 2.0. Mainly in the sense of being a yes man to O'brien.yup, and this is where having a GM and coach perfectly aligned can rear it's ugly head. I'm betting you're wrong on Gaine and I am willing to give them as a team a chance.Yes I want another OC. But will Obrien micromanage him. Will he allow him to do his job. Will Obrien try to force the weekly change in the offensive scheme.
Gaines will do a great job again in acquiring what we need. But will those additions be coached up properly. Will those players hold up because it seem these players come here to get hurt.
I like RAC but I truly think his time has come and gone. It's time for a change.
Gaines is unfortunately Rick 2.0. Mainly in the sense of being a yes man to O'brien.
Dude just like Kubiak picked RS to be his GM, OB picked Gaine to be his GM. There's a real danger in that.I'm betting you're wrong on Gaine and I am willing to give them as a team a chance.
Agreed,Dude just like Kubiak picked RS to be his GM, OB picked Gaine to be his GM. There's a real danger in that.
This whole &*$@#% organization is so bass ackwards it's not even funny.
That's like having a Walmart assistant manager pick the freaking store manager.
Agreed,
That's why I wanted Ricky/BOB both fired. But since that didn't happen all we can do is hope Gaine can add talent to a depleted roster. So far so good.
Hopefully, that has happened here until last season and Gaine did a great job considering the obstacles that were in his path.Again he's going to add the talent Obrien wants without a fuss.
Texans traditionally fire coach then GM, flush, and repeat process. Never togetherAgreed,

Capers & Casserly were effectively fired at the same time. Casserly just "stayed on" thru the draft with Kubiak in charge.Texans traditionally fire coach then GM, flush, and repeat process. Never together
Like I said, never same time, don’t tell me Casserly had no impact in the 2006 NFL draft, that’s ludicrous. Ironically selecting (Casserly/Kubiak) DE Mario Williams then playing him out of position (until Wade) then (Smith/Crennel/O’Brian) taking another DE Clowney #1 then I guess just finally agreeing constractually anyway he is a DE and not an OLB.Capers & Casserly were effectively fired at the same time. Casserly just "stayed on" thru the draft with Kubiak in charge.
Didn't say that. He convinced Kubiak to take Owen Daniels. But they stated at the time Casserly was staying thru the draft because he had hired the scouts and they didn't want to hire a new set before the draft. He was fired at the same time but his departure was delayed.Like I said, never same time, don’t tell me Casserly had no impact in the 2006 NFL draft, that’s ludicrous.
Not like there is a lot of history to base that on... they're on the 3rd of eachTexans traditionally fire coach then GM, flush, and repeat process. Never together
LOL...ticket prices have gone up when the Texans did NOT have an 11-5 division winning season and a young stud QB to market. I would expect tickets to go up a higher percentage than normal.Next season.....the damn ticket prices better not go up again!
And someone needs to INSTRUCT OB to hire someone with an offensive mind. Cuz OB's offensive mind ain't cutting it.
Ya, I hear ya. Just wishful thinking is all.LOL...ticket prices have gone up when the Texans did NOT have an 11-5 division winning season and a young stud QB to market. I would expect tickets to go up a higher percentage than normal.

This may be true and plenty of suckers to fill those leaving who’ve had enough.LOL...ticket prices have gone up when the Texans did NOT have an 11-5 division winning season and a young stud QB to market. I would expect tickets to go up a higher percentage than normal.

You make me wonder how long I would have stayed a season-ticketholder if I were still BeaumontTexan. This may be true and plenty of suckers to fill those leaving who’ve had enough.
You buy them and sell them on an individual basis. to get your $$$$ back. You can actually do well if the team is decent. You make me wonder how long I would have stayed a season-ticketholder if I were still BeaumontTexan.
Yes, this was true when i moved way back when...I thought is more of hassle to be a ticket broker of sort than to buy a couple of tickets for the once or twice I was making it to games thenYou buy them and sell them on an individual basis. to get your $$$$ back. Did you get back your PSL $$$$?Yes, this was true when i moved way back when...I thought is more of hassle to be a ticket broker of sort than to buy a couple of tickets for the once or twice I was making it to games then
I was non-PSL upper deck owner...I never wanted to pay for right to spend money and the chance was always that I was leaving Beaumont again in a couple of years which ended up happening.Did you get back your PSL $$$$?
I almost tripled mine. And that was after 2-14.Did you get back your PSL $$$$?
Well that answered the question I posed in another thread.Well he has the hook up if nothing else
On Sean Ryan/new QB coach
This move does not happen if O’Brien doesn’t let it happen, if Bill O’Brien wants to keep him this move is stopped in its tracks. That being said this is an indication that at least Bill O’Brien was open to moving on from him, was open to a different quarterbacks coach. I don’t know if it’s going to be an OC honestly like if O’Brien was going to hire an OC he might’ve done it with George Godsey a couple of years. He does the offense so you may not actually hire an offensive coordinator but at the least he’s gonna bring in a new quarterbacks guy and I think you know as much as he does with the offense it sounds like he wanted someone who he could more like turn the QB position over to logistically, fundamentally, and in practice and maybe free O’Brien up just like a little bit.
As long as I've been a football fan......every fan from every demographic would be upset if their team couldn't follow-up on a great season with another if there's no clear reason for the failure. That would be true even if we won though.
We would be disappointed if we didn't repeat the 'next year'.
Seriously?Sounds like we're getting Peyton Manning.
So how many years has he been here and now were finally going to see his "real" offense? I just don't trust in the Texans to amount to much as long as OB is still here. This is the year we see OBriens real offense.
Well, we are going to find out.So how many years has he been here and now were finally going to see his "real" offense? I just don't trust in the Texans to amount to much as long as OB is still here.
Hopefully I am wrong. But unless Gaine does some extraordinary things in the offseason I just don't see how. I don't trust OB, but I don't have anything to go on with Gaine yet, so in that respect, I am hopeful. Add in OB to the mix though and my excite-o-meter swings back to the red.Well, we are going to find out.
Hopefully you're wrong and good times are ahead.
I expect 3 things next yr. 1. A big jump in performance from Watson in what is really his 2nd yr. 2. BOB to get no credit around these parts. 3. After looking at next yrs schedule a 9-7, 10-6 season and people around these parts calling the season a failure and calling for BOB's head again next offseason.
Even though the team will be much better next yr. I said from the beginning this is a 3 yr rebuild and Gaine/BOB are in yr 2.

At least there won't be any excuses anymore. It's time for some consistent results on the offensive side of the ball.Well, we are going to find out.

Me too,I'll believe it when I see it.
As my wise old momma always reminded me "a watched pot never boils".
I am convinced that the last generation was much much wiser than the ones that have followed it.
Yep, it's going to take a yr of experience to get these young guys to where we want them to be though. At least there won't be any excuses anymore. It's time for some consistent results on the offensive side of the ball.
They can be well on their way halfway through their first season and be very effective.Yep, it's going to take a yr of experience to get these young guys to where we want them to be though.
Nelson was the clear best OG prospect of the last draft and maybe the last few years. his getting it early and often was expected. They can be well on their way halfway through their first season and be very effective.
It depends on the coaching - Quentin Nelson comes to mind.

Nelson is a generational talent. I dont expect that from Rankin. I dont expext XSF from Rankin either. I expect Grady Jackson from Rankin. They can be well on their way halfway through their first season and be very effective.
