**Official Game-Day Thread** Preseason Texans at Rams, Saturday Aug 25, 2018!!

Which can be bad for chemistry in week one.

Part of it is also Brady has a lot of new pieces he has to get comfortable with opening day. No Edelman (4 games), Cooks, Amendola or Dion Lewis at the skill positions where the Texans are bringing back basically the same core skill players outside of the TEs and Coutee who are currently situational starters.

Same with Goff. Aside from adding Cooks they are pretty much the same offense.

Jerry Jones is on crack, because even Aikman didn't consistently throw "perfect spirals".

But hey.. you're talking about the same guy who blew a load over crackhead Quincy Carter, loved Chad Hutchinson, and let "the clown" Casserly punk him with a Drew Henson trade.

Jones is the best marketing guy, but he sucks with player personel.
Yes. He also traded two first-round picks for Joey Galloway. Basically handing the Seahawks a couple of All-Pros in Shaun Alexander and Steve Hutchinson. And he also passed on Randy Moss in the draft. Imagine if the Dallas Cowboys had Randy Moss, Shaun Alexander and Steve Hutchinson - three All Pros, instead of Joey Galloway? They'd have likely won another Super Bowl or two before Troy Aikman retired.

We have a lot of new peices as well. Plus Hopkins hasn't played in the 1st two preseason games either.

Not to a significant extent. Hopkins/Fuller are getting the bulk of the targets and Miller/Blue are getting the majority of the carries. Ellington and Griffin will battle it out for targets and maybe the rookie TEs will get some run in the redzone. Don’t think Coutee will be able to beat out Ellington for significant target share having missed most of training camp.

The majority of NFL starters are getting legit playing time, not just Brady.. and lets not act like Watson doesn't need reps with his weapons. He only had 6 starts last year and has a completely new offensive line. O'Brien is pissing away valuable reps here.. He didn't even let Watson go for half a quarter.

Is Matt Schaub still in the league?
I'd rather have him as a back up over Weeden.
Just kidding guys! Weeden is at least better than that.

How many reps did. Watson get with the starters last preseason?

I have a feeling the same people complaining about him not playing enough in preseason would be calling the Texans every name in the book if he gets injured in an effort to get an extra series or two out of him.

We know he’s healthy. We know he’s gonna be there opening day. Like Aaron Rodgers once said... R-E-L-A-X

Mariota is still in the game against the Steelers.

We should hire Brandon Weeden as the QB's coach.
The guy can't play at a high level anymore.
So many weak passes off target. It's terrible to watch.

I have 0 problem with the starters not even playing a quarter. There is no game plan, they're not doing anything special. The last thing I want is for someone to get injured. I'd be fine if there were no preseason at all.
then just leave 'em all at home wrapped in bubble wrap.

Watson got more reps last year..

Without even looking I bet you he had more reps in one single game than he'll receive in this year's entire preseason.

No I wouldn't. Injuries are apart of the game. I will be complaining if we start the season 0-4 like we did several years ago. He did this back then and we started that off 0-4.

I'm telling y'all, Nick Rose has been here just a little over a week and he's already the worst kicker that has ever dawned a Texans uniform.

Name one worse..bet you can't. He SUCKS.

He has a booming leg, but his nerves can't handle pressure. He was the Longhorn kicker who killed their comeback against Goff's Cal team several years ago by shanking an extra point with seconds on the clock.

So long as the season ticket holders don't have to pay for it.

If Watson had stayed longer and looked ok I don’t think it makes much difference.

He’d still need to prove it in a real game.

Two or three more series against the rams’ back ups’ back ups shouldn’t be the difference between a successful season and a bad one.

At the end of the season no one will be thinking...well, if they’d have just gotten a few more snaps against the Rams C team we’d be champs!

I get it, people want them to get reps. But I said it last week leading up to the game (based on OB’s history and the makeup of the team) to not expect Watson and the starters to play much.

Lechler losing his job before our very eyes

Hate to see it happen, but it needs to happen... Hopefully our new ST coach can see it too. This guy is 42 and father time is undefeated. All time great, probably can still make a lot of rosters in this league, but it shouldn't be this one.. which we should be happy about. It means (assuming if our staff doesn't have their head up their nostalgic ass) our 23 yo went against one of the best of all time and wasn't given the job, but outright took the damn thing.

I still love Lechler though and what he's done for this team, would be awesome to cast a fishing pole with this guy, but the Texans need to go ahead and make the move.. Trever Daniel will be claimed off waivers if we try to stash him.

Football as you recognize it and enjoy it wouldn't even exist without preseason.

It's a necessary evil unless you enjoy over a month of shitty football during the regular season.

Somebody tell Tillman that taking a knee after a bobble in the end zone is the 100% correct move.

I’d think allowing the teams more practice time (particularly padded practice) in the offseason would even things out.
