2018 TT Mock Draft Selection Thread

Another suggestion - just go with BPA, but make it at one of the teams two or three most pressing needs or just go straight bpa.
I'm not sure what you're suggesting. BPA according to whom? Needs according to whom?

BPA according to NFL.com grades and needs according to expert concensus.
It's not rocket science.
So if there’s a missed selection, go to NFL.com. That’s fine if there are minimal interruptions. I think there should be more of a commitment by the GMs to the draft. If every GM would send a list of players they would like at their draft spot, then I think the mock could proceed. The list would only be used if the selection wasn’t made in a timely fashion. If a GM hasn’t already considered players that could be available at their spot, they aren’t taking this with any real consideration.

That's doable.
I've seen it done before.

Hey guys sorry for the delay. I actually just lost time. I was running like a madman all day yesterday. At the last minute I had to make an unannounced run across Naples, Italy at 2100. didn't get back on base until 2330 and then got up at 0300 to get my wife to the airport. Anyhow, I'm awake and ready to participate and all looks clear for me over the next 3 days. With that:

1. The Browns select Saquon Barkley / RB / Penn State

I gave steelbtexan this heads up a week back but like me he's probably busy. If pick 2 is ready to go, I've already got the 3rd and 4th picks ready to go. Wolverinefan may want to change his #2 pick since he might not have expected me to take Barkley at #1.

If this helps, supply the pick and just keep adding to it:

2018 TEXANS TALK NFL DRAFT

ROUND 1

01. OptimisticTexan- Cleveland- RB / Saquon Barkley / Penn State / #1 player in the draft can have a profound impact on this offense. Might even help Tyrod Taylor look like Watson.

02. Wolverines Fan- NY Giants- QB / Sam Darnold / USC /

03. OptimisticTexan- NY Jets (IND)- QB / Josh Rosen / UCLA / He might watch McCown for a few games but will take over the starting job sooner rather than later.

04. Optimistic Texan- Cleveland (HOU)- OT / Mike McGlinchey / Notre Dame / No trades allowed, forced my pick. I could've easily traded this pick, moved back, got more picks and still got the #1 LT to replace Joe Thomas.

Kansas City- Pharohcious

**WolverineFan, you could change your pick since I might have surprised some folks with the Barkley pick at #1**

Felt this was the least I could do for screwing up the start time yesterday. I apologize if I made a mistake on anyone's avatar name, please correct when you make your pick. I think it would be cool if anyone wants to throw in a comment as to why they made their certain selection.

**Also, we can use this as the master sheet. So let's just add the pick and a comment for ease of reference. If we want to add images of our individual picks, then just make it a post under your name.**

A week earlier I submitted my pick to steelbtexans. I would like that pick to be reflected. I didn't even notice this post until just now. I did the same on the original TT Mock Draft. I won't repeat what I've already wrote but I would like to change the pick to RB, Saquon Barkley.

I'm ready for picks 3 and 4 but would only find it fair to WolverineFan if he'd like to adjust his pick before I submit 3 and 4.
1. Cleveland- Group Pick - Saquon Barkley, RB - Penn State

Pick # 54 2nd rd Kansas City- PHARAOHCIOUS (AVAILABLE TEAM)
Pick # 68 3rd rd Houston- Group Pick

Would WolverineFan like to Darnold versus Rosen since he's available?

The Browns take Mike McGlinchey, LT - Notre Dame with the 4th pick.

I will wait to make the 3rd pick in the event that WolverineFan would like to switch his pick to Sam Darnold now that he's available.

Darnold went to bed thinking he was a Brown, and woke up going to the Big Apple. Nice.

The next 5 selections:

3. NY Jets- @OptimisticTexan - On the clock
4. Cleveland- @OptimisticTexan - We have the pick
5. Denver- @tomjn80
6. Indianapolis- @Texansballer74 - I may have the pick
7. Tampa Bay @Pharaohcious (AVAILABLE TEAM)

@Pharaohcious will have to make that pick unless a Bucs fan takes it off his hands. Pharaohcious...I just got that.

With the 3rd Pick.....NY Jets take QB, Josh Rosen - UCLA.

**Tomjn80 and Denver are on the clock.**

Don't forget guys, you can reply to the primary board, add your pick, then add a comment if you desire. Announce your pick on a separate post.

Actually, I would keep that results thread clean and just post the selections here, with comments. Also, are you going with your previous #4 pick?

Yes. Like I mentioned, if we were doing trades, I think I could've got several takers for the 4th pick and still got McGlinchey. McGlinchey should cover the Browns need for a LT for another 10 years. Tyrod Taylor could really benefit from a better OL and Barkley as the RB. He would allow a QB to get a season of development.

5. Denver- @tomjn80 - on the clock until 4pm
[/USER]
It's 4pm and pick #5 is officially late. Day 2 and here we go again. I'm not upset, but it's pretty obvious this isn't working. I'll let you guys decide what to do from here.

The Denver Broncos select...
Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame

Bottom Line
Elite guard prospect with outstanding size, rare power and a block finisher who can make tape room sessions uncomfortable for most opponents. Nelson is technically sound and is unlikely to face a long adjustment period once he gets into the league. Nelson may need to make sure and keep his play speed high and prevent against taking his eyes off of his target when coming off the ball. Nelson has the traits and talent to become an All-Pro guard for years to come.

Should be my turn in the rotation to step up and mod this thing but my heavy workload simply wouldn’t allow it.

One thing that’s apparent is Texan fan base is heavily weighted towards offensive lineman. By time Texans draft pick is on the clock it’s gonna be slim pickens. After all, the usual purpose of this exercise is leading up to who the Texan selection will be. Doesn’t seem like there is much reason to continue what is already a very painful process.

On a positive note, there’s a lot of good local craft beer to choose from now :wesmantexanfan:

I'm ready to pick....i thought Texansballer74 turned his pick in to the mod/commish already?

........

Im going to PM 2 picks to the commish and go to bed

This draft is tough. I'm not innocent since I had the first pick and was full day late but sometimes things are just out of our control.

I think it would be just as entertaining if we used simulators (First Pick) to execute our personal drafts and trades. Post the results and let the critics have their way with your draft. If your plan is in place for the TT Mock Draft, then that same plan can be used on a simulator in about 30 minutes. This also keeps the entire Mock process focused on the Texans.

So, I'll table the one I just did:

First I traded the Texans RD3-04 pick to SF for their RD3-06 RD4 (Second pick in RD4) and RD5-06 picks. I then traded the SF RD4 pick to NO for their RD5-10 and RD5-27 picks.

RD3-06: Marcus Allen, FS- Penn State (A-)
RD3-16: Troy Fumagalli, TE- Wisconsin (B-)
RD3-34: Jamarco Jones, LT- Ohio State (A)

RD4-03: Kevin Tolliver III, CB- LSU (A+)

RD5-06: Josh Adams, RB- Notre Dame (A)
RD5-10: Nick Nelson, CB- Wisconsin (A)
RD5-27: Justin Lawler, EDGE- SMU (B-)

RD6-03: Colby Gossett, OG- Appalachian State (A+)
RD6-37: Marcus Ateman, WR- Oklahoma State (A+)
RD6-40: Tre Flowers, SS- Oklahoma State (A)

RD7-04: Bentley Spain, OT- North Carolina (A)

The Texans RD3-04 and RD4 (SF Second Pick) bought the Texans a very solid RD5. I did miss out on TE, Smythe (ND)...he went in RD4-02 but getting Tolliver would be a hell of a consolation prize.

Those simulators are stupid with all the trades.

Just don't crazy with the trades. I held mine to what a couple of real trades could involve b/c of the great positioning of both the Texans' RD 3 & 4 first picks. I never take the ludicrous trade offers, just the one that gets closet to being possible.

Hell, who wants to execute enough trades at every pick to give the Texans 20+ picks in RD3 - RD7? The simulator will allow it but it doesn't have to be taken advantage of.

By the time my pick comes up, training camp would have already started.

:kitten:

It's tough Santo. It appears that the folks that wanted to participate in this exercise are busy folks. That's not a negative. Like I mentioned above, it's an option but it's still an exercise....just quicker and easier to complete.

First I traded the Texans RD3-04 pick to SF for their RD3-06 RD4 (Second pick in RD4) and RD5-06 picks. I then traded the SF RD4 pick to NO for their RD5-10 and RD5-27 picks.

So thats: 250 (3-4) for 240 (3-6) + 44 (4-28) + 34 (5-6) = 322. 29% over value.

Moving back 2 spots should have been SF's 6-10 which is still over value.

Then 44 (4-28) for 32.2 (5-10) + 25.4 (5-27) = 57.6. 31% over value.

Dropping 4-28 (not that you should have this pick) to 5-10 should have been NO's 6-15 with slight over value.

@Texansballer74 had PMed me the pick for the Colts, but unfontunately the player was draft prior to his selection. He will have to choose another player for the Colts.
