This has been a problem not only in 2016.I know. They never seemed to be where Brock threw the ball...![]()
He had 4.44 speed weighing 217 lbs at the NFL combine. I'd imagine he'll be plenty fast weighing 198 lbs now. Route running was the issue for him. Good route running makes you look much "faster".
He's doing nothing as expected
Didn't we draft him ahead of David Johnson?![]()
I think we traded up so we gave up a draft pick too.
Our third, fifth and seventh plus Posey to move up in the third round to get Strong.
Wow. This is getting better and better.
At least we drafted Braxton because he was a steal!
Hard to blame WRs with the QBs we've had, the route combinations we've seen, & the play calling.
Most receivers need help to get WTF open in the NFL.
Even Hopkins is looking like a talentless clod.
No it's not. You either get open and catch passes thrown to you and in your hands or you don't. Is this you still trying to defend Rick Smith for anything and everything?
He used to have flypaper hands and made some circus catches - now the ball hits him in two hands and he puts it down.Hard to blame WRs with the QBs we've had, the route combinations we've seen, & the play calling.

We also traded a 4th and 5th to take Nix in the third.
Besides being extremely careless with draft picks and compensatory picks, we've also done the second big no-no in team building: massively overpaying for mediocre free agents (Brock, Allen, Miller).
This is why we've become an incredibly thin team. I don't think I've ever seen it this bad since the expansion days.
I also think front loading contracts is a problem, as it limits capspace to build a team in the front years.
We've only doubled down on this strategy unfortunately, as we don't have a first or second round pick next year.

Why isn't Rick getting any blame for these trades and lack of depth? This stuff rarely happened under Kubiak. People used to complain how we never made that big splash on draft day, now look where it has gotten us.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/10287/jaelen-strongJaelen Strong wasn't targeted in the Texans' Week 2 win over the Bengals.
Pro Football Focus charted Strong as playing 20 snaps, but one-read rookie Deshaun Watson never looked his way. The Texans are counting down the days until Will Fuller (collarbone) can return opposite DeAndre Hopkins.

Certainly you're joking. Unless you mean "a steal," like driving by a house and picking up an old futon that somebody left out for heavy trash day.
He has a bad thumb. That can really affect catching the ball.He used to have flypaper hands and made some circus catches - now the ball hits him in two hands and he puts it down.
He is not the same receiver we saw in his second year.
Once again, how could this evaluation not have been made over the offseason?
Well that saves ole rick....sarcasmIm hearing he failed another drug test. If so, big ash dummy.
Dang RS...with as many WR's that have gone down in the first 2 weeks you couldn't even finagle a RD6 for Strong before you just threw him to the street. Dude, how are you still an NFL GM? Beli will probably sign him and Brady will make him look awesome by Sunday...just to rub it in the Texans face. Would anyone put it past Beli to sign him to just give him an edge in forcing the Texans to change their calls on short notice and with a rookie QB at the helm?

There was no other incident or NFL punishment prompting release of Jaelen Strong, per sources. It was a football decision they made today
