**Official Cut Day Thread**

Didn't the Browns release Brock Osweiler?
He can be signed to the vet minimum.

Problem solved: 3rd string QB achieved.
And he already knows the system. LOL

Is there a difference in being released and in being waived?
If a player is not a vested veteran (4+ seasons), he has to go through waivers. Based on last season's record, worst to first, teams have a chance to claim the player. Other players are automatically free agents free to sign anywhere.

Guys like Brock Osweiler and Brandon Weeden are going to be some owner's excuse "not to sign" Colin Kaepernick. Robert Griffin III and dare I say, Johnny Manziel.

Give me a break ..... they don't need an excuse not to sign a guy who wants a starters position and starters money that isn't good enough to start on a bad Cleveland team.

Collin Kaepernick has had more success in the pros, albeit that was years ago under Jim Harbaugh, than any starter we've had over the past three years? Well maybe I'm wrong there. Ryan "Fitzy" Fitzpatrick had a monster season with the Jets a couple years ago if I recall (statistically he was solid) but he still missed the playoffs. But that was with the Jets and not the Texans. Our numerous starting quarterbacks, for the most part, have been ineffective and lousy under Bill O'Brien.

I'm hopeful Deshaun Watson is our long-term answer at the quarterback position though. RG3 had some success early in his NFL career. His rookie season was electric and exciting when he led the Redskins to the playoffs. That's still more than what Tom Savage has done so far in his career is it not?

I'm cheering for Tom Savage (he's a great man and a hard worker), but the fact is he's entering his fourth year in the NFL and is yet to throw his first career Touchdown pass. I don't like to use injuries as an excuse. Hopefully Week 1 we'll finally have something encouraging to talk about. A 250-yard, 3 TD and 0 INT game against a strong Jaguars defense (stacked secondary) would be a delighted outcome for Savage.

Just a quick question: who will be our kicker and 3d QB?
It's not a smart move to go into the season with only two QB's. I expect many on the board expect us to sign a PS elgible FA. But who knows what this organization will do?

If we can get 1 passing TD, 1 INT, and a win, I'd be happy. I expect Savage to be a better than average QB in the NFL simply because he knows OBs system and is fairly accurate. In fact, until Watson takes over, he's an excellent place holder while Watson is learning.

Texans win 2-0.
Fairbairn misses 3 FGs.

Ankou is the backup NT??

That's the guy I'm thinking of.
No you're right my bad. I was constantly getting mixed up between 96 ankou and 94 kamalu early on. Thought you were making the same mistake. Don't remember ankou doing anything in the preseason. On the other hand kamalu was impressive.

Ankou is one broad guy . He clogs the middle ppretty good I thought .

It would really be nice if they would also track the cuts by position. I've been looking to no avail. I'd like to focus on the OL and WR cuts.

So who makes the practice squad?

Hatley, dare, president, Ross, Washington jr, lee, ankou and Anderson hopefully!!

Pardon me if I haven't been keeping up, but has anyone figured out who the 3rd string QB is yet?
