Stevie Brown S visited - signed/released

Giants fans I know seem to agree that this guy sucks. Hopefully he figures something out.

Well, just like we have guys saying Swagg sucks... it's probably more that he doesn't fit the scheme. Chances are if Brown sucked, OB & Crennel wouldn't waste time on him.

This is really what it's all about. They know what they're looking for and they think he might be an asset. We'll see if he's going to beat somebody out of a job or not. I'm optimistic.

A healthy Brown is better than Swag.

The question is Brown healthy?

Smith/BOB/RAC were probably willing to pay a small signing bonus and the vet min to find out.

Last year, before his foot surgery, he was relegated to lesser time and a lesser role, including STs and playing in the box. With his recent history of foot surgery, I would be that much more guarded as to my expectations of him in the role of a true free safety.

On timing of Stevie Brown's release, source says he wasn't going to make #Texans roster, this gives him head start to catch on elsewhere.

The #Texans have released safety Stevie Brown.

Has either one of those done jack squat this year?

Neither have distinguished themselves this year, Hal showed flashes last year. All we've seen of Demps in this D is one appearance in a preseason. I like Demps' potential in our D. But it's going to also take him a little longer to see if he distinguishes himself in a clear cut fashion. I believe that is a likely scenario.

Well, I mean, we knew there was a problem when they shifted Hal over and then brought Demps in. I hadn't heard anything about Stevie Brown not performing, though.

It was very evident that Brown was slow, consistent with the remote and recent surgeries I posted about previously. The concern I had re. their potential effects evidently translated into his compromised performance and subsequent release.

I can't rep you anymore, but I am so glad you are part of this board. Your knowledge and insights are wonderful. Thanks!!!!!

no surprise in this as never heard any coach talking about Brown.
It appears to be a case of determining whether this body could catch up to his mind, and it couldn't due to injury and/or age. Veteran savvy vs wear and tear is always a hit or miss proposition. Just don't spend too much to find out like we did with Reed.
