NFL Trade Rumors @NFLTadeRumers
Chris Mortensen reports that #Texans are fielding trade offers for CB Jonathan Joseph & #Cardinals are listening to offers for Michael Floyd

Jayson Braddock @JaysonBraddock
If Texans trade Johnathan Joseph, it'll save $8.5 million in Texans cap $$.

I can see them trading him for a couple picks, but it's doubtful they do imo

I think we'd get more out of him this year than whatever we'd get for him from a trade which probably wouldn't be much.

Teams are always fielding trade offers for players year round so it's not surprising, but I'd hate this trade. We need JJo to mentor KJo, he's not ready to start in the NFL.

This. Unless they have another trade for a potential starter or feel like somehow they already have the replacement on roster. If they feel the later I'm terrified.

Pretty much this. Malcom Floyd fits that bill to me though (long term starter)

Still, I'll believe it when I see it

Unless someone is willing to offer more than what I think he is probably worth - I'd keep him. I get the whole - ya but he will walk next year thing. So be it. We need him this year. Now if someone wants to give up their #2 choice tonight, I'm open to that idea.

Might as well kick the tires and see what the market is. But I'd prefer to have him here to show Johnson the ropes for a year.

The guy is probably going to get us a 4th or 5th as a comp next year when he walks, so anything lower than that certainly isn't going to cut it.

I don't want him traded, but any comp pick would be in 2017 (just a consideration).

 Another rumor to get everyone's bowels in an uproar.

It's total bullshit.

Yea I should have clarified. I would go by the value chart. So if we expect to get a 4th round comp for him when he walks then I wouldn't trade him for less than a 2nd in this draft.

A higher than #50 2nd

Whoever fed Mort that rumor is somewhere going...

"Guys Guys! Check this out, the sucker actually RAN with it! Bwahahahahahahaha!"

If Pancakes says one thing don't we automatically assume the opposite?
I really like Mcclain when he starts telling stories about 'back in the day- and all of that but JM has been saying lately that there's no way the Titans take Morioto, but they did. In other words JM is very often way off of the mark.

I'm not sure I want racing stripes on my bed. The implications can go either way.

Personally, I'd go for the hamburger bed.

No way, what if the Giants come down from their beanstalks and rip off the roof of your house while your sleeping?

Climbing that far makes you hungry

Doesn't climbing UP make you hungry? I mean all they have to do is slide down. Like a fire pole.

I don't know if he does walk after this season. He's simply not the same player that got paid the big bucks last time he was a free agent and I don't believe he gets another big contract. It's quite possible he would accept one the Texans could afford and be comfortable offering.

I would love that. He's valuable, just not above a certain dollar amount.

OK, but what would the Texans use that cap space on? Anyone out there that could help the team more than Joseph? I hate it when someone suggests saving cap space is a win in of itself. Cap space is not a playoff tiebreaker. Cap space has never won a Super Bowl. It's what you do with cap space that matters.

yep having cap room don't mean nuthin' if you don't use it

I think we had good off season signing FA including our own so having more cap can be very good for us. Mercilus, Crick, Ben Jones, Chris Polk, Mohammed, Nate Washington for example could need increases 2016.

This potential move creates 0 for 2016. What good is $8.5 mil in cap space in 2015?

The ability to sign a few vets that will be cut later before the season? Any upgrade can only help

Sure but enough to offset starting a rookie CB or Bouye/Morris in place of JJo (and loss of his mentoring)? Color me dubious.

Oh Hell No! I wouldn't trade him, but I'm not a big "gotta have more cap space" guy. I was just giving an example why additional cap would be benefical at this late date

I don't know why people are arguing this. Cak is right. There is no value in trading Joseph unless you get a player who beefs up the team long term. Cap space at this point doesn't matter, it's not like there are FA's out there worth 8.5M

Well, if there's nothing to spend it on, then it gets rolled over and creates $8.5 MM in 2016.

Having said that, I would very much prefer they don't trade Joseph, and I absolutely believe they won't.

I think by the time these rumors hit the public any potential deals have long since washed out. McClain is probably right, this one goes to

Wouldnt it be Texanlike to trade a veteran starting corner and then start the rookie! Lol

For me it's about how the player is valued. He's not worth $8M this year, or at least his recent performance doesn't point to an $8M player. I'd have cut Jjo before releasing Andre.... But that ship has sailed.

Asking him to take a pay cut will help other players understand its not time to relax when you hit that payday, it's the team telling you what they expect & they need to deliver.

Granted, Jjo still looked good at times & injury has been a big part of his issues. The Texans could just as easily use this as an opportunity to extend good will towards Jjo, confirming their faith in his ability & he may show us he's worth every bit of that $8M.

To be fair, I felt the same way about Antonio the first couple of years he was here, but think he earned his money the last couple of years he was here.

Can we trade for Philip Rivers & fit his salary under our current cap?

I disagree with your take. He's still one of the top corners in the league
