The Nnamdi Asomugha Thread

This waiting sucks.

I won't mind so much if Asomugha wants to stay at home and take the 49'ers offer - even if it is less than ours.

But I would really hate it if he takes less money and goes to the Jets.
I don't want to lose to the Jets anymore.

Zierlein also says Joseph would be more than willing to take our money but he's in wait mode also.

I'd MUCH rather have Joseph than Cromartie.

Manning is a local product as well, would love to see him in the secondary.
 
All bias aside, if I close my eyes and imagine it, I really can "see" Nnamdi in a Texans jersey. It fits. I also can't "see" him in a Jets jersey. Not in that ugly green drab nastiness.

He holds football camps here every summer and me and my sister know him personally. My town actually has a lot of NFL products.

I'm getting the feeling this one gets announced as soon as the deadline passes and not before, I'm thinking that probably favour H-Town too because from what I can tell if the J-E-T-S had it sewn up it'd be all over the media within a second wheras the Texans would be more likely to inform the league as per the rules and nothing more lol.:fans:

I blame this waiting game on Aso. I don't know what he's waiting for. This is football we're talking about not brain surgery. He's going to be a very very rich man (not that he wasn't rich before). He's dragging this along for no good reason imo.

You can announce you have a deal in place, you can't actually sign a deal. I'm guessing the Houston Texans won't announce that they have a deal until they have a signed deal. I might be wrong, its just a hunch.

My understanding is that teams and players can agree to terms but not actually sign until 6pm edt tomorrow. The players can't show up and practice until Aug. 4th. You can announce it whenever you get the deal done.
 
Don't you think its kind of funny when we talk about players wanting to join a team with the best chance of winning, but then they string these teams out trying to get every last penny out of them? If he really wanted to win he would take a Revis-like contract so whoever he signed with still had a tiny bit of money to play with.

On another thought, anyone think its possible that Aso is waiting to see if the Texans bring in any safety help before he chooses us?

But it is not binding. Someone yesterday announced a deal then later walked away. Cant remember who.

Does make sense. I could see the Texans just wanting to wait around until signing time to announce it. They really do enjoy torturing their fanbase.

As soon as Aso agrees, all the other DBs will start signing, it'll be impossible to keep it a secret. Aso and Cromartie have the same agent. Well know right away.

This is what I'm thinking/hoping. If the Jets had a deal it would be EVERYWHERE already. I'm betting he's decided on Texans and tomorrow at 6 p.m. EST it will be signed and we'll all know about it.

You are correct but the general point that is being made is that it's not the Texans MO to do that stuff before it's guaranteed.

All this twitter speculation is yellow journalism at its finest. And it is disgusting. Whatever happened to the days where you had to wait until the newscast or the paper the next day. Folks are a bit too "need to be up to the minute" nowadays and it feeds the media hungry creeps with their "in the lead!!!" bullshit... just report the facts. No more no less. If you offered a player multi millions would you chance announcing before getting a signature? I wouldn't.
