Fast Mock Draft 2.0

Not looking great for the Texans at this point.

Spievey might not drop to us and we should be looking at CB at this spot. So, Spievey or A.J Jefferson, Donovan Warren, or Javier Arenas?

Or we say screw CB and go Geno Atkins, D'Anthony Smith or interior OL with Mitch Petrus, Jeff Byers or J.D.Walton?

Interesting decision.

If you cant get the DB that you want go for the value pick.

For me that would be one of the OG's Newhouse or Petrus. Or one of the DT's Troup or Owens.

With the 78th pick, the Carolina Panthers select...

Jason Worilds, DE/OLB, Va Tech

With the loss of Julius Peppers, they need someone to set the edge on the rush. This guy should be able to do that.

I was really hoping he'd slip to the Bills in the 4th, I was going to pass on Misi and grab this guy then...... Glad I went with Misi when I did.

Isn't Jason Woilids similar to Everette Brown, undersized DEs who were supposed to play OLB at the NFL? Maybe I'm wrong...:runaway:

I think with FS addressed already I'd definitely be looking to the trenches.

Atkins, Troup, Petrus, Johnson, Beadles, Newhouse, Owens, Arthur Jones

Yes.

But it all depends on perspective. Normally a guy like this goes to a 3-4 and they use him as a rush linebacker. But this situation is different being that we're talking about a 4-3. Worilds will be looked at initially as a situational pass rusher but he could either develop into a WILL (if he can learn to cover) or if he can add some weight, could develop into an undersized DE.

With the 77th pick, the Tennessee Titans select:

Akwasi Owusu Ansah, CB, IUP

Thanks for making the pick for me TPN.

The reason I chose AOA over Spievey (who I hope the Texans draft in the 3rd rd. one of my favs.)

He's bigger faster and can play CB/S. I was lured in by AOA's upside.

Okay, sorry I couldn't access my computer yesterday. San Francisco and Denver selections will be made within a couple minutes and this thing can get rolling again.

The San Francisco 49'ers select TJ Ward, S, Oregon.

The Houston Texans Select:

Amari Spievey
Cornerback
Iowa
Height: 5-10⅞ | Weight: 195 | 40-Time: 4.51

Good tackler. Great in run-support.

Good upside. Physical. Good instincts.

Numbers were down this year, but that was because nobody threw to his side.

With the loss of Dunta Robinson, corner was high on my draft list. Didnt land an elite prospect in round 1, but Spievey in the 3rd is really good value in a deep draft.

Thanks to everyone who chipped in keeping this draft rolling over the weeked. That was awesome.

Here are the next 5.

82.) Pittsburgh Steelers - steelbtexan - 9AM Mon

83.) Atlanta Falcons - RMartin65

84.) Cincinnati Bengals - Ole Miss Texan

85.) Cleveland Browns - Honoring Earl 34

86.) Green Bay Packers - RMartin65

I deffinately considered them in round 3. But the value and need were at corner. I will look at them again when some slip to me in round 4.

Not sure 4th round players can contribute from day one.... I guess that depends on the player but the longer we leave it the larger the chance that we are playing with what we had last year and that wasn't so hot on the OL especially.

I had to take into consideration that on the OL last year we were decimated with injuries. This year we have one, possibly 2 starting guards from last year coming back. We signed FA Wade Smith to compete and also our 3rd rounder from last year (Caldwell) is going to compete for a guard spot. I dont see that much difference in a guard or dlinemen from the 3rd round to the 4th.

The Santonio Holmes trade had it happened last week would've changed the Steelers draft board. With that said the Steelers are a Team that stays true to its draft board.

With the 82nd pick in the NFL mock draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Alex Carrington DE Arkansas St.

With Travis Kirschke's impending retirement finding a DE is a must. Carrinton is a stud who really impressed me at the Sr.Bowl. Had he gone to Arkansas instead of Arkansas St. he probably would've been a late 1st rd. choice.

I think that Spievey will end up being one of the better CB's in this draft.

I read somewhere that the Iowa DB coach called Spievey the best DB he has coached. DB's he has coached include Bob Sanders and Charles Godfrey that I know of,that's a pretty good compliment.

I would love it if we could get Spievey in the 3rd. I don't think he will fall that far.

I guess we can pray this happens then. This was part of my reasoning for drafting Burnett in round 2. And with such a deep draft a corner, there were still 5 corners on the board that I would have considered drafting in the 3rd. And when it turned out to be Speivey I was happier than a pig in mud.

With all the top CBs and LBs gone, the Falcons turn their sights on getting a number 2 receiver. Without further ado we are happy to select Eric Decker, Minnesota.

PM from Ole Miss Texan.

Cincinnati's pick at #84 will come up soon and I'll be unavailabe for a while.

Please select:

1) Kam Chancellor, S, Virginia Tech

I've got about 5 in my top 30 on the big board so we might start seeing some soon.

There is two I thought might have gone already.

I really wanted to select a pass rushing OLB here, but all my guys there are gone. I then looked to corner, and again, could not find anyone with appropriate value. I decide to take a player at the top of my board, Toby Gerhart.

Behind Ryan Grant, the Packers have very little depth. Gerhart will fix that, and coupled with Grant the Packers become a very dangerous running team.

Good pick there.
