2009 Member Mock (Second) Rounds 4-7

Denver Broncos take TAMU RB Mike Goodson.

340x.jpg

Good pick. He is a little skittish going up the middle and looks to avoid contact rather than initiating it.

But he is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, maybe the best in the draft besides Harvin. He also has good top end speed and a great burst.

With the 142nd pick in the NFL draft the Washington Redskins select Maurice Evans DE Penn St

Evans is extremely talented but has some character concerns. He was had the same production as Maybin in 2007 before his pot charges. This late in the draft is a good time to take a chance on a guy like Evans.

Evans ran a 4.78 40 @ his pro day & fills a need for the Redskins.

Shaft75, did you select Javon Ringer (You just have a pic). If so, good job, Ringer is not a big RB but he can break tackles and has the speed to be successful in our ZBS.

Fifth round:

129 Seattle (from Detroit) - Kyle Bell, RB, Colorado State
130 St. Louis - Emanuel Cook, SS, South Carolina
131 Kansas City - Roy Miller, DT/NT, UT
132 Denver (from Seattle) - Henry Melton, DE, UT
133 Philadelphia (from Cleveland) - P.J. Hill, RB, Wisconsin
134 Cincinnati - Cedric Peerman, RB, Virginia
135 Atlanta (from Oakland) - Bear Pascoe, TE, Fresno State
136 Jacksonville - Herb Donaldson, RB, Western Illinois
137 Green Bay - Sebastian Vollmer, OT, Houston
138 San Francisco - Darryl Richard, DT, Georgia Tech
139 Buffalo - Matt Shaughnessy, DE, Wisconson
140 San Diego - Louis Vasquez, OG, Texas Tech
141 Denver - Mike Goodson, RB, Texas A&M
142 Washington - Maurice Evans, DE, Penn St
143 New York Giants (from New Orleans) - Courtney Greene, S, Rutgers
144 Houston - Javon Ringer, RB, Michigan State
145 Philadelphia (from NY Jets)
146 Chicago
147 Tampa Bay
148 Dallas
149 Philadelphia
150 Minnesota
151 Philadelphia (from New England)
152 Atlanta
153 Miami
154 Baltimore
155 Carolina
156 New York Giants
157 Indianapolis
158 Dallas (from Tennessee)
159 Arizona
160 Pittsburgh

After watching Cushing on path to the draft, I feel great about my draft. Now we have Ringer for some more explosion out of the backfield. I let go of the whole big back/small back idea. I also like ringer as a pass catcher in our offense.

I still like the big back/small back one-two punch. Kubiak has even said publicly that it's the direction he wants to go. Ringer's even smaller than Slaton.

The guy I was hoping to fall to the Texans (not that you'd take him, but I love the guy) was Courtney Greene, SS.

With the 145th overall pick, the Eagle select...

Otis Wiley - S - Michigan St.

~ Even with Sean Jones on there roster, the Eagles need some depth at Safety. Wiley is a tall and quick S who can hit as well as be a playmaker in the backfield.

When I look at "best available", I'm not really seeing anything that synchs up well with their needs. They've already hit 3 of their biggest needs.

Here's a long list of guys I'd expect to be gone or to go by now.
Dannell Ellerbe, ILB
Scott McKillip, ILB
Jonathon Casillas, OLB
Corey Irvin, DE/DT
Vance Walker, DT
Kevin Ogletree, WR
Brandon Tate, WR
Christopher Owens, CB
Jerraud Powers, CB
Bradley Fletcher, CB

I don't know, though. Maybe a QB like Curtis Painter or Stephen McGee?

I think both Ellerbe & Mckillip would be good picks here, but do they fit Tampa's defense?

I suggest an OLB, maybe Nic Harris, Kevin Ellison, or Jason Williams (if available). Williams is a 6'3" 235-Lbs OLB who finsihed his career at WIU with 46.5 Tackles for Losses, 15 sacks, and 289 total tackles.

Hey it's his fault if he's taking this long to make a pick so if the consensus is Tate then that's fine. I was merely pointing out that they already took a WR just in case some people were unaware.

Oh ok, well yea I agree I would have looked into there needs and everything but the draft is almost here and I would like for us to finish all 7 rounds if possible.

Fyi Bucs took a WR in the 4th round.

One of the better players available and right now, their WR's are:

Antonio Bryant - 83 recs

Michael Clayton - 38 recs
Maurice Stovall - 3 recs
Cortez Hankton - 0 recs
Paris Warren -
Kelly Campbell -
Dexter Jackson
Brian Clark
Anthony Mix

Hilliard and Galloway are gone. They could use 2 wideouts.

He is available. I assume that's your official pick?

Yep ... it's the second time I picked him . The first time they killed the thread right after I started the 4th round . Then Derrick Williams came out and nailed his pro day and revealed he had the flu at the combine so ... I changed .

Well, it seems that "most" people were putting there vote behind Tate and I feel his GM shouldv'e made the decsion but his time has long been up. Feel free to put your input but I think Tate is a good WR for the Bucs.

fyi guys it was a group pick... The Bucs don't have a GM to pick for them.

With the 149th overall pick, the Eagles select...

Diyral Briggs

Diyral+Briggs,+Bowling+Green.jpg

~ OLB that can pass rush and had a productive career at BGSU. He finished his career with 26 sacks, 221 total tackles, and 36 TFLs. Needs to add bulk but can become an effective DE/OLB and adds depth to the Philly defense.

With the 151st selection...the Eagles select...

Sammie Stroughter - WR - Oregon St.

Quick WR with very good hands and decent production in college, gives the Eggles another playing making target.
