Looks like we may see more of Xavier Adibi on the field since Cushing will be sidelined for the first four games.

Can someone explain to me why we haven't seen more of Adibi since he was drafted?

I remember seeing Kubiak comment on Adibi right after he was drafted and Kubiak looked like a brand new father. He even gushed: "I love that kid."

Now I'm hearing Adibi is in the dreaded dog house.

    What gives?

All I know is he has like a 64 overall on Madden.

I would imagine it's difficult to achieve a high Madden rating if you're never on the field.

Nah, Texans backup players average a good 5 or so points lower than the backups on other teams.

Well, that will change. This team is building some depth.

So what have we decided here? Adibi hasn't seen more field time because of his low Madden rating?

    Madden has spoken.

During Cushing's absence, Adibi might see the field more versus passing teams than running teams. I could see the Texans start in a nickel package versus Indy, with Ryans and Adibi at the 2 LB spots. Against the Raiders, The Texans might go with Diles-Ryans-Sharpton (I wanted to say Sharper), or even Bentley-Ryans-Diles. When facing the more balanced offenses like Dallas and Washington, down and distance should influence what LBs (other than Ryans) are on the field.

    Thanks for that assessment, Lucky.

So Adibi is soft on the run? Is that the reason we're not seeing him on the field? Or did he find his way onto Kubiak's bad side somehow?

He's more of a finesse LB. If you want to categorize that as soft then you can, but I just say he's more finesse than physcial. There is a distinction.

I was ecstatic when we drafted him. I think he can be a very good WLB in the league. He has the skills. He's only going into year 3 of his career.

I was a big fan of drafting Adibi... I actually didn't think he was still available and was taken in the 2nd or 3rd.

Anyways, I thought he's been battling some health issues during his time here? Didn't he lose a lot of weight his rookie season? Other than that I think his playing time has been more of an testament to Diles always bringing it and never letting someone take a starting role from him.

No wonder why I can't get promoted at work, Madden has me at 62!!!!!

I sure hope I don't end up on the cover of Madden, I can't afford to miss a year of work!!!!

Crap. I just noticed that one of my quotes just lost a bit of momentum.

Can you imagine if they could in their prime field Cushing - Ryans, Sharper?

It's not that he is soft per se, it is that he is faster and lankier. The Texans have Diles and Adibi listed as the same height and Adibi as 5 lbs heavier but visual inspection would not confirm either. Now what Ole Miss says may have some impact on that visual inspection. Anyway just different instincts. Diles has better instincts for attacking the LOS and Adibi maybe grew too big to be a safety.

He dropped I believe to under 220 lbs.

Not saying it's going to happen but what if Sharpton (or Adibi since this is his thread) play lights out during the first 4 games. Diles and Meco and SAM and Mike, respectively, and then Sharper/Adibi at Will. What if we go 4-0 and Kubiak & Bush LOVE what they see from our linebackers.... do they put Cushing back in the starting spot? I know it's a longshot but heck, it'd be a good problem to have, huh?

Could Houston have their 3rd rookie LB win DROY in 4 years!?

Now, I don't know about Bush as DC but with Smith as DC, the 3 LBs he considered the best three were the starters. The guy on the bubble for me is Diles. Cush gets his starting spot back. He's too good not to. But the question will be whether Adibi (or Sharpton or heck, Bentley) are able to take Diles' spot. And you're going to know by who's playing LB in passing situations: Diles or Adibi/Sharpton/Bentley.

Texans will use more nickle sets & take Adibi/Sharpton out. Adibi has extensive injury history so you have to track his reps closely & Sharpton has to learn playbook.

By the time Cushing returns Diles will slide back to Will, then it depends on Xaviers health & Darryl's development, of the three Sharpton has the highest ceiling.

Lets get this guy some 'roids, stat! Even if he tests positive, he'll be suspended after Cushing is able to come back in
