We've been kind of quiet for a couple of days now. Anyone hear about anybody coming to visit us? There are a couple of RBs that I wouldn't mind seeing here.

    Deshaun Foster
    Nick Goins
    Michael Pittman
Cecil Sapp - I wouldn't mind resigning that guy.

And two more who are pretty small but could be good for us:
    Dominic Rhodes
Aaron Stecker - this guy runs like he's a big dude and is good inside the 20s.

Ah, you know whoever used to play in Denver or gets cut from Denver will get a shot here...

I haven't seen or heard anything new. I agree with you on Cecil Sapp. I'd like to see him come back if the price is right. We need a good solid veteran presence in the backfield since it looks like our top two guys are going to be very young guys in Slaton and a rookie.

Not in to any of the other RBs you listed, except Pittman. He's old and everything - but the truth is, he was a GREAT short-yardage back in Denver last year before he got hurt.

With Slaton as the main guy, our rookie-to-be as the #2 guy, and Pittman as the short-yardage specialist - I think we'd be pretty solid.

I asked LZ about Pittman last week, and he said Pittman probably has too many character problems of the past for the Texans to look at him, so he might be out of the running... but then again, the team showed they were a little more flexible than we thought when they courted Benson.

There is usually a thread (if not multiple) with 15-20 minutes after a rumor or hard news of FAs appear anywhere online.

Yeah, and if we get bored enough - people will just make up their own rumor. LOL

This just in...Texans make offer to Frank the Tank. They think he can fill the need of a deep threat and can run the streak route with perfection.

Reuben Droughns? Seems he fits a lot of the criteria we are looking for. Not a huge fan...but if we can get him in here cheap...then i guess its worth it.

I am ok with no additional FA signings (other than our own). We should fill all our needs except a priority need of stopping the run. I do not think that will be addressed. Slaton ran well without any guidance imo from a vet RB. I think the coaches do more for a young player a vet usually.

Well I know people are going to hate hearing me say this but we could wait to see what kind of RBs fall off the Denver Broncos. They have like 6 pretty good backs - Buckhalter, Harrington, Jordan, S. Young, and like two 2nd year guys. Something serviceable has to fall from that.

A couple of things to think about... In the past Kubiak has liked to have that third guy be a guy that can play FB or RB so that we suit backs every week. So either the rookie will be a guy they think can do both or the 3rd option will be. This is more likely. That's what Sapp brought to the table. When you're thinking of veteran RB's it's probably smart to factor that into weather or not the Texans would be interested.

I think the reason that they entertained Benson was because he was an ideal fit from a football perspective. I don't think their stance has changed. I think they considered it after he was productive and stayed out of trouble. I assume they offered him something near his veteran minimum in case his heart was in it. I think that's how they felt like he'd be worth it. If he wanted it bad enough to take less money. I think that would have suggested to them that he was ready to work hard. But the only reason they even entertained the idea is because he was an ideal fit from a football perspective.

I would love to see them cut Peyton Hillis. Hopefully he wont fit in with what they are trying to do there. I still cant believe we passed on him late in the draft last year.

Heard the same thing as well man! Apparently on the internet somewhere my cousin saw a quote from the Ravens front office saying they wanted at least a first round pick, AJ and Toro as a new mascot.

Think Leigh Bodden will cost too much? Had a visit with NE and left without an offer. He is a pretty good corner. Not sure we need to bring in another FA CB after Reeves last year, but would be a good addition IMO.

I know. You would think this guy would be brought in. Then again, maybe he doesn't want to come here.

Sean Jones wants to start, and it's becoming fairly obvious that our starting safeties will be Wilson and Barber.

That's why Sean hasn't nor will he be brought in.
