No news this week for Texans fans. I guess you can always play the Vince Young card if you want to stir the pot.

I've thought about this a little myself lately. Most Texans fans are in a pretty unique situation right now. We're pulling for our team while we're also fans of the hometown guy who's now a division rival.

I wonder if fans of other teams have been in similar circumstances.

It must be a really easy gig being a sports writer in Houston these days. "Hmm I cant think of anything useful to write, lets do another VY puff piece or slam the Texans on who they should have drafted 9 months ago."

Seriously these guys aren't even sports reporters anymore, they get paid to have opinions. Well hey, I have a few opinions myself, wheres my paycheck.

Excellent column today by Richard Justice if that is what is being referred to. Is anyone seriousely saying that VY winning the ROY award is not a newsworthy item in his hometown where he practically has hero status? :ok:

If that was the articles intention, to say that Young won the Rookie of the Year, then it was a terrible article. It only mentions it in a paragraph 3/4 of the way down. The rest is saying how VY is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Which is why he won ROY and was the point of the column.

No. You missed the point of the column entirely. Intentionally, I might add.

That was a nice read to brighten my Friday morning. If Vince had behaved similar to Eli Manning in his choices of places to play, I would perhaps feel differently. But, the Texans had the first right of refusal and elected to do so, therefore I will never tire of those singing his praises. Sorry, but VY is my hometown hero and will hold that honor with me unless work ethics prove otherwise.

I dont feel that Vince Young was the best rookie last season. There are a few rookies I thought that performed better.

    1. Demeco Ryans
    2. Joseph Addai
    3. Devin Hester
    4. Vince Young

I would much rather a linebacker who made 150+ tackles, or a running back who put up over 1,200 yards (while splitting time), or the best return man of all time, then someone who threw 13 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

He made one really good play this season (the touchdown run in overtime against us). Aside from that, his team turned things around... I really didn't see Vince Young carrying that team like people say he did.

Well, if I could be any of those rookies, I'd choose to be Addai over Young. He is playing in a Super Bowl and has a chance to be the Super Bowl MVP. A much better representation of the city of Houston this year IMO.

Wait, I thought VY was the only guy in the NFL from Houston?

    R. Justice is doing what he gets paid to do as a Sports Writter and that is to stir up trouble not write about sports news.

I think Jones-Drew was the better candidate this year.

A disgusting article from start to finish. There is a not-so-fine line between sports reporting and furious leg humping, and Justice crossed it long ago. Even in the days of one of my all-time favorite athletes, Michael Jordan, this caliber of "reporting" about even MJ would nauseate me as well.

He's bored. Still got two weeks to kill before the pitchers and catchers report. Wait untill you get a look at their combine coverage.

I don't think J-D or anybody else deserves the ROY award as much as VY does. Having said that though, it should not in anyway discount the tremendous rookie season J-D had.
And what's unfortunate is that he got so little credit for his year compared to the constant raves that another player at his position, Reggie Bush, got.
In all the serious, respected awards for rookies (as determined by groups like the AP writers, The Sporting News, Pro Football Weekly), J-D and Bush's teammate Marques Colston, received more votes than any other offensive
player after Young for ROY honors. And according to these experts, he was
the clear choice as the top rookie running back.
Quite frankly, for those who ask the Texans why did they take Mario instead of Reggie Bush, the more accurate question should be why did they draft Mario instead of Maurice Jones-Drew ?

He's at the SuperBowl and kickoff is 2+ days away and he writes a I-love-VY-Texans-suxors article? Man, must not be much going on over there in Miami....

I've read pretty much the same article spun slightly different about a 1/2 dozen times this year....

Or maybe the exact opposite. He's found the bird cage and has to use up the stored VY material because he hasn't got the time to post anything original. Real short trip from south beach to kissemee. I guess justice is just enjoying the ride.
