Heard good news on all of them, but I think it will come down to Tolliver and Maehl to make the team.

But I'm putting all my bets on Tolliver. Tall kid who's got some good speed.

If he makes it, I hope he works his way into the offense and ends up being future #2 - lining up next to AJ80.

I could see them go 6 deep, I think they have before.

    AJ
    KW
    JJ
    DD
    TT
    JMaehl

If it comes down to cutting Toliver or Maehl, I'd bet on Toliver due to his potential. Plus sized, skilled, just needs time.

    ^^^ This.

I think two of Maehl, Toliver, and Jean get in. I just don't know which two, yet. Can't wait to see them play.

I think think toliver is going to  have a fracture:

I think meahl will make the roster as the fifth receiver and open the door to the possibility of keeping holiday as a returner.

I heard they were going to change the rules so that players could be put on to the IR and then brought back later in the season. Does anyone know if that got included in the CBA?

If so, I'll fly down to Houston and twist Toliver's ankle myself so he goes on IR if we can keep Jean and Maehl.

But I don't think Holliday is going to make it.

I think Maehl will replace DA and I hope Toliver makes the roster for 6 WRs. I want Holiday as a return specialist but if I was HC/GM I just don't think I could fit him in.

There's some questions on OL and LB depth as well as the DBs.

Do you keep a McMannis and/or McCain as the 6th or 7th CB?
Do you keep Nolan, Barber, Demps, Keo as depth at S or cut some?
Do you keep Nading, Keglar, Adibi at LB?
Do you keep both Studdard and Shelly Smith as G depth?
Do you keep all your TEs? Cut Hill or Graham? Keep Casey as a 3rd/4th TE and backup FB?

So many questions but if they really wanted to keep 6 WRs I think they could. Will be some tough cuts this year though.

I was way high on Holliday, too much so, in fact. Hands can't be a problem, not when you're a specialist like this. Roster spots are for ballers anyway, you need to be tops in the league to be a specialist like KR/PR. If he's PS eligible, maybe give him another year to work it out but I think this experiment is about done.

I will say this though, if they plan on keeping 6 WRs, they had better use them because bodies are needed at the backend of the D. I'm sick of the mentality that guys are good enough to make the team but not good enough to play. If they're here, they're ready. Save AJ a little bit of pain, spread some time around these young, promising WRs.

    this ^^^

Maehl was borne to play in the Denver/Kubiak system, while Toliver teases you with his NFL size & skill set.

Didn't the gameday roster size increase? I thought I heard that the normally deactived players can now suit up?

    1) McCain. McManis goes to Saftey depth
    2) Barber and Demps cut. Keo, Nolan, and McManis as Saftey depth
    3) Nading and Keglar kept. Adibi cut
    4. At this point yes.
    5. Hill is cut. If you can't stay healhty you are not useful to the team. Graham stays, Casey is super special teams and backup FB/3rd TE.

Thanks. I just bring up these because I think we have to look at the entire roster and depth chart in order to get an idea if we keep 5 or 6 WRs. I hate to turn this thread into that, I just can't give a definitive answer without doing that.

The 3 main guys (Maehl, Toliver and Jean) are all SO intruiging, I love these signings!! I think Maehl gets first nod because he fills a need by replacing Anderson. Toliver/Jean to me are similar and quasi-backup Dickerson... or am I looking at their skillset wrong?

    Offense: 24 plus udfa wr(s)
    QB(3): M. Schaub, M. Leinart, T.J. Yates.
    RB(3): A. Foster, D. Ward, B. Tate (S. Slaton cut)
    FB(2): L. Vickers, J. Casey (Casey hybrid TE/FB depth)
TE(3): O. Daniels, J. Dreessen, G. Graham (A. Hill cut - although Graham could trade places if Hill does great in camp)
    OL(9): D. Brown, W. Smith, C. Myers, M. Brisiel, E. Winston, R. Butler, A. Caldwell, S. Smith, K. Studdard
    WR(4): A. Johnson, J. Jones, K. Walter, D. Dickerson +++

    Defense: 25
    DE(3): J.J. Watt, A. Smith, T. Bulman (T. Jamison cut)
    NT(3): E. Mitchell, S. Cody, D. Lewis
    OLB (4): M. Williams, C. Barwin, B. Reed, J. Nading
ILB (4): D. Ryans, B. Cushing, D. Sharpton, S. Keglar (X. Adibi cut; Bentley FA?)
    CB(6): J. Joseph, K. Jackson, J. Allen (FA?), B. Harris, R. Carmichael, B. McCain (A. Molden cut)
    S(5): D. Manning, G. Quin, T. Nolan, S. Keo, S. McMannis (Q. Demps, D. Barber cut)

Special Teams: 3 - Punter, Kicker, Long Snapper

There's 52 players right there which leaves you 1 roster spot for Jeff Maehl, Terrence Toliver or Lester Jean. Cut Studdard (keep Smith) and we can get an extra WR on the squad. With the depth we need particularly at LB, I don't see Holiday making the roster with only being a returnman. Anthony Hill and Garrett Graham is huge battle for me; Adibi vs. Keglar... Nading, etc.

I like our team a lot over all.

I want Tolliver to take that #4 WR spot but I think Maehl is more the sure handed possession type of receiver that Anderson was and brings that something different to the team.

Only disagreement I have is McManiis remaining with McCain cut (could play S but will not get chance) I think KJ if he does not turn it around should be back up safety.

It really helps me to see the players at positions as you have identified so I do not have to do so.

Oline: I have to let Studdard go and Shelley back to PS one more season. (7)
WRs: 6 as there will be injuries here. TT & Maehl on roster.

DBs:I cut McCain and keep one roster spot for Asante Samuel who we will get for draft picks.

I don't see 5 safeties. With Allen able to play both cb and s, I don't see 5 safeties.

I think the last 2 cb spots come down to mcmannis, McCain, Carmichael, and molden.

I think if adibi is healthy he makes it at lb.

I could also see them going with 5 corners if someone on offense really impresses. I also think they carry at least 5 wr.

I agree, going to be a tough team to make. Gonna be a lot of cuts that hurt.

But every year the texans seem to find a way to stash a player on ir and I expect some injuries to happen, so we'll see how it shakes out.
