Surprised nobody brought up the intentional grounding call against Schaub in the 2nd quarter. The announcers disagreed with the call. I thought it was a bad call but that's not what bothered me.

I can accept a call made by an official, but he took a long time before throwing the flag. It looked like he didn't make the decision himself; he let the crowd influence him & then he threw the flag.

I've always felt that the NFL is the best officiated sport around, but that call was made the same way European hockey referees officiate games. If you're going to make the call-Make The Call!:thumbdown

    What do you think?

Disagreed with it, but who cares! I think the refs totally got swayed by the crowd and I thought there was some form of a time limit the ref had to throw a flag for a play on the field. I mean he waited at least 30 seconds to a minute after the play to throw the flag. That I have a problem with.

Off topic but J.P. Losman has a really high pitched voice. It just now made me laugh.

He was well past where the tackle lined up by at least 3 yards. Horrible call.

Thank goodness this now seems to be a team that's good enough to overcome the bad breaks, unlike the previous 5 years.

Funny, forgot all about it. If we had lost though honestly I would be complaining a bit about everything. Winning made me forget about everything, even that Daniels fumble that cause the Panthers to go up by 14 so early.

Doen't matter what we thought of it. All that mattered is that they met the adversity of it and over came it. You're going to get bad calls on the road. For the record, I thought he met the requirements of being out of the tackle box.

It was a bad call in every way . . but as Kubiak and Schaub are trying get across, it's how you respond to it that's important.

You gaff it off, and go on to the next play.

The replay showed he was clearly well outside the tackle box, but I think the officials are still used to the Texans QB being 30 yards outside the tackle box before he throws the ball...

it was a pretty lame call that ultimately didn't mean anything in the grand scheme of the game.

I agree. Bad call, but those happen to every team. I did like the way the Texans shrugged it off.

terrible call, and it likely cost us an additional 4 points. Fortunetely, we didn't need those additional four points. The team took care of business, and stomped those tigers until they meowed little kittens. :splits:

I think it was a bad call, but the delay in calling it was mainly due to the referees conferring to try to figure out where it was thrown from (which they did incorrectly) rather than getting swayed by the crowd. I've seen a lot of IG calls that take a while to get called, since refs need to confer.

It was strange to me at first that Kubiak didn't challenge it. Are coaches limited to 2 challenges (regardless of whether successful), or is it 2 unsuccessful challenges? I believe at that point, Kubiak had already challenged twice - one unsuccessful, one successful. Or, is this even a reviewable call?

IM pretty sure you cant challenge penalties

And yes, you are given 2 challenges per game. If you get both right, you get a bonus challenge

It is where the tackles originally line up. It was a horrible call.
