OK, I know there's a Romo thread, but that one's about getting him to play for us. That might be good, or it might be nothing more than we've already seen if the real problem is the offense.

In any case, he's not a lead pipe cinch he'll be great or even good in O'Brien's offense.

In addition, the ONLY reason to get Romo is the wishful thought he might take the team to the SB.

Now think about that. How are we gonna feel if we get to the SB with Dallas's QB?

So why not just forget Romo, move on, make some kind of move in the remaining FA for a QB to challenge Savage, and trade up in draft to get one of the decent QBs, too.

Jerrah is making us look like fools at the moment. Anything we can do to return the favor?

I'd be happier than a punk in a pecker plant if we made it to the superbowl .... no matter who the Texans quarterback happened to be.

What the **** do I care if we get to the Super Bowl "with Dallas' QB"?

    A) He wouldn't be their QB anymore.

    B) There is no actual rivalry between the Texans and the Cowboys.

Maybe it's different because I don't live in Texas, but I don't spend even a second of thought on the Cowboys as they relate to the Texans and I never have.

It is different when you live in Texas, trust me there is a huge rivalry. Maybe not in the way the NFL is split up but in the minds of the fans and in terms of local news coverage there is a big time rivalry.

That being said let me turn this around and say how awesome the bragging rights would be if after 13 seasons Romo doesn't even see the big game and then he comes to Houston and goes to and maybe even wins a SB. Yeah that would be the worst embarrassment the Texans have handed the Cowboys since they won that very first game.

Ultimately I think that's what Jerrah is scared of, that a Romo lead Houston would still all his thunder after the big season last year. Also I disagree that he is making us look like fools, everything I'm seeing people are saying he's living in a fantasy world thinking he'll get a pick for Romo. Also can't help but think this might bite him in the ass down the road when the next big name player is looking elsewhere.

If I'm a Cowboy player and I saw the way Romo is being treated after 13 years of loyalty yeah that's going to make me think twice about doing anything to help the team next time my contract is up.

Speak for yourself .... I live in Texas , there is no rivalry. Cant be one .... The teams only play once every 4 years and we've never met in a game that matters.

This isn't a matter of "speaking for myself" this is just listening to football fans around me. I've worked construction all my life and even before I watched football after the Texans were created the big thing was the fans arguing over who was the true Texas football team.

Just because you don't see it that way doesn't mean a lot of other people don't. Seriously walk into any construction site lunch room, ask who the best team in Texas is and then grab some popcorn and watch the show.

There is only a rivalry in the minds of some Houston fans. Dallas fans generally ignore Houston or root for them as a Texas team. And like Corrosion said they rarely play.

In Dallas you never hear people say 'this weekend I'm rooting for the Cowboys and whoever plays Houston.' You will hear people talk about how cool an all Texas SB would be. It's a one sided non-rivalry.

By the way, I grew up a Cowboys fan in Dallas.

This. I grew up a Cowboys fan in San Antonio. The vast majority of my family are still Cowboys fans. There is not one ounce of smack talk out of them about Houston specifically, even though they have been insufferable in general in the last few years. To them the 19-10 game was just one of many losses in a 3-year streak of 5-11 seasons.

& neither team has done anything that mattered since 2002. Neither team has any accomplishments to brag about.

    There's different kinds of rivalries:

    Geographical
    Divisional
    Playoff
    Personal
    Cultural
    Stature

The Cowboys and Texans are only one of these, and don't nearly cross paths enough for it to matter much.

Division championships apparently count for a 6% season ticket hike per yr.

So if the SB trophy is the definition of success, and anything other than the SB trophy is the definition of failure, why are not more HC's and GM's getting fired every year?

Specifically, why wasn't Bill Bellicheck fired when he didn't win a SB between 2004 and 2014? The Texans went through three HC's and two GM's during this time frame when both teams were failures for nine straight years.

If we end up with Dallas's QB, we won't shoot him until AFTER he wins the SB for us. How's that for a compromise?

And for the record, I don't think Romo is the magic elixir some of us think he is. Would he be helpful? Yes. Is he over rated? Yes.

Agree with that assessment, still there seems to be a lot of envy on the part of many Texans fans which I guess is because of the greater pub and attention the Cowboys receive ?
Not being from Texas I don't get the thing many fans here in Houston have with the Cowboys, you know strong sentiments either plus or minus ?
They are truly the Kardasians of the NFL in the sense their accomplishments fall way short of the hype they receive. The great NFL franchise of our time, of this century is of course the Patriots. Now I admire them and respect them.
I do wish we had a real NFL rivalry with another team which is why I was hopeful the Raiders might actually end up in San Antonio which would make for the opportunity through a division realignment for an real I-10 competition if we were to end up in the same division.

Yeah, going to the playoffs almost every year and winning SBs really sucked.

More on topic, maybe instead of blaming the talent we should look to upgrade our very inexperienced OL coach.

I was being sarcastic of course :)

Actually, I would go a step further and say that it is detrimental to win division titles when clearly you don't have any chance to do good in the playoffs, because it makes it more difficult to address the problems.

"if it ain't broken, don't fix it" right?

we went 14-2 and there were some changes, now we had 3 straight winning seasons, so the team might give the impression of not needing to be fixed

and I expect this season to be the same, unwatchable regular season + 1 playoff win in the wildcard round + 1 close loss in the divisional round.

the close loss will be the signal that we are "getting better" and then wait 1 year, rinse and repeat
