There are no curses just poor decision making by the general manager. What if we didn't draft David Carr and took Julius Peppers instead? What if we didn't pass up on the likes of Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers and even Joe Flacco, when we had the opportunity to draft any of them, all QBs who went on to win Super Bowls already.

People say it's hard to find a franchise quarterback but some lucky team usually drafts them and the teams who don't regret passing them up. Or what if after our 2-14 season in 2005 we had went after Drew Brees and Sean Payton instead of Matt Schaub and Gary Kubiak? The Saints went on to win a Super Bowl and have made several playoff appearances since.

It's about the choices being made by the front office. We hit a home run here and there but most of the time we have struck out. All it takes is a few smart moves being made to change the culture of the franchise. Any team can become a consistent winner. It's football and not rocket science.

There is nothing to learn but everything to gain moving forward.

This. It really does only come down to putting a handful of smart moves together at the right time. When the Texans drafted Carr over Peppers it went against everything they had been saying they would do. They talked about building the team right and getting their O/D lines set first but they went right past Julius Peppers and took the pretty-boy face of the franchise QB who was as destined to fail as it gets. They did that after watching Cleveland do the exact same thing with Tim Couch too. Moronic first move and I put that one on McNair solely. He gets a bit of a pass because he was new at this but damn what a mistake to make and then keep making for the next four years.

The real lessons we should take is that one team wins the Super Bowl each year and that it takes a ****load of good management, performance, and luck to win.

If that's all the franchise has learned than they will be terrible forever.

Sad, but they will probably be repeating these mistakes again soon.

    8. Double check Tony Boselli's shoulder before drafting him.

They did that after obtaining Boselli, Young, Walker, Payne and McKinney. And they drafted Pitts, Weary and Hill with 1st day picks. They did not go against what they said. They failed in their attempt.

Yep. They tried and it didn't work. That's why you get better management and coaching and try it again. If that doesn't work, keep going.

The Texans couldn't put Peppers on a billboard . No ... you had to make a splash with DC .

Bad qb play trumps all other parts being superior with the rare exception of a once in a generation defense (85 Bears and of course the hallmark Ravens.)

Bad coaching trumps having superior talent when playing playoff teams...and sometimes crappy teams. The difference between a good team and a bad team is often not a lot. How many 1 score losses have we had? You can usually blame those loses on 1 play or 1 bad coaching decision.

Building through the draft only works when you draft the right people.

Not building through the draft means your about to be in cap hell.

Drafting qb's who get haircuts on local tv = qb's who have the wrong set of priorities and should be avoided.

Drafting 1 year wonders who just transitioned from another position, have knee injuries, and can be had in the 2nd round of the supplemental draft likely aren't going to work out the way you want them to (I'm looking at you Tony.)

Trying to outsmart everyone else in the league only works half the time. See Ragone/Henson.

Re-upping players in advance of contract to "build a good repoire" and "quality reputation" among future free agents = no money to sign those free agents.

Roof open or closed someone's going to complain.

I can ALWAYS count of Epsn to go to commercial during the draft when the Texans are on the clock.

Draft commercials asking "what does your team need?" which featured no offensive line and only David Carr were completely and utterly wrong about David Carr.

If we are 0-15 or 15-0 I don't care. Under no circumstances are you allowed to lose to the cowboys. EVER.
