This was a fun season... it had some really high highs and some really low lows.. but in the end I am excited to see what next year will bring.

Secondary and Running back. If we can address those two weaknesses... and get OD back and 100%.. then I think there is nothing to stop us from our first playoff berth next year.

Its been fun folks.. least we can hold our heads high this year.

Offensive line needs to be the #1 priority....that and CB, because Dunta needs to be gone. I don't think running back is that big of a issue. Foster, Slaton, and mid-late draft pick should be fine.

I would like us to improve our record against divisional opponents. The offensive line needs some serious upgrades and I would like to see us overhaul our defensive secondary, we need to draft a good cover corner or sign one in the FA, we also need a RB but with the way Foster has played I would like to see what this guy can do all 16 games so a RB may not be priority numero uno. :fingergun:

I think his year stunk. We should have won more games. This mini-winning streak didn't happen until the pressure was off (excepting the 2h today).

eh.. I honestly think that we need a better RB to take the running game to the next level. We will see though.

Kicker needs to be a big priority for us as well.

Despite our slump in the middle of the season.. we still finished with our first winning season. And dont forget that we were playing MUCH better when OD was in the game.

    It was a good year.

Good post. I tend to agree - glad to see the team play hard these final four weeks.

However, I am concerned that we didn't make the playoffs in a season where Schaub stayed relatively healthy. And next season's schedule (NFC East, AFC West) will probably be a bit tougher. We will have to sweep the Jags and Tacks to have a shot at the playoffs next season...

That is a matter of opinion. One man's floor is another man's ceiling.

I was going to start a thread like this, but I'm glad you did. I feel the same way. Sure, I'd have liked to have it turned out better and there are plenty of "what ifs", but we did improve. We took a step forward here, and one back there, but we are a better team IMHO. We still need some help with a couple of key positions, but we are definately heading in the right direction. I'm glad Kubiak gets another year and I will definately be a harsher critic with him next season. I was a tad more realistic with my expectations and we ended up about where I thought we would. I figured if were going to end up in the playoffs, it would be as a wild card team. I didn't figure it would play out as it did, but such is life. Anyways, we ended on a good note and I can't wait for next season to get here. So here's to the draft in April and fast offseason...:wesmantexanfan:

I still want an awesome safety okay? Yes Pollard is awesome, but when you pair him up with John Busing or Dominique Barber. . . yeaaaaaah.

From what I've seen from Arian Foster, I'm fine with the RB situation.......enough to not burn a 1-3 round pick on one. Arian Foster has been moving piles and has played great. He also had a 1st to 2nd round grade if he came out the year before. If Slaton rebounds to half the back he was as a rookie (and I think he will), Houston is fine there.

There are bigger needs on this team and most of them play directly infront of our running backs. You can't run the ball if you don't have holes and can't move people, but Foster moved quite a bit of piles today......I really like that kid and was high on him the minute we picked him up. I still don't understand nor will I ever understand why it took Kubiak this long to give him a shot. He was better than Chris Brown the minute he was healthy.

It was a fun season. We played fairly well besides that 4 game losing streak. I thought that we improved as a team this year, and we are taking steps in the right direction.

If we look at all of our losses this year, I think we can pinpoint a few things that we could change to turn them into wins. In particular, we need somebody to hit some clutch field goals, and we need to be able to run the ball better, especially in short yardage situations.

In an ideal situation for me, we will sign free agents at the DT and CB positions. They don't necessarily need to be pro bowlers, but they need to be better than what we have. I would love to see us take Earl Thomas in the first round of the draft, and then address the interior O-Line in the next couple of rounds. This is easier said than done since we will have no control over who the best player available will be. Hopefully we can add a kicker through free agency or in the latter stages of the draft.

I think with these few small upgrades, and the improvement of young players already on our roster, we will be a serious threat to make playoffs.

Yes, a true young ball hawking FS would kick ass....I'm actually hoping for Earl Thomas as our #1 pick.

True but i think the biggest thing we need for next year is just finishing games off.

No matter what we need linemen, a safety, corners, whatever we played good enough to have 11 or 12 wins with what we had which is a great accomplishment.

We just couldnt seal the deal at the end of games and if we learn how to finish(and get a new kicker) we'll be fine.

O and no more Chris Brown. That guy ranks with the worst Texans of all time.

    Trade up for Eric Berry!

EDIT: I'm just kidding that guy is going to be off the board well before we can do anything about it.

It was certainly nice not seeing him on the field today. Let's hope he is on the bread line tomorrow.

The easiest way to "finish games off" is to have a reliable running game.....especially a short yardage running game and Houston hasn't had a short yardage running game since they brought over this ZBS crap paired with a even crappier Chris Myers no matter who's running the ball (which is why it doesn't make much sense drafting a RB high right now)

THAT GUY HAS TO GO......I was on vacation the last two weeks (just got back yesterday) so I watched the Tampa Bay and Miami games on my DVR...Myers was owned and out-muscled as usual at the goal line and in short yardage. Dude stinks and needs to go.
