Watson’s a top 5 qb. Do you agree?

Then OB's job is to keep him in an offensive system that keeps him hot.....problem solved. This had all the appearances of Watson's 8th game of his rookie season. Damn, even the play calling was similar. The biggest difference.....there was a better OL protecting him and more weapons to choose from.

Is that why Billy Butts was so ornery during the post game presser? Anyone have an idea of what that was all about? I havent seen it yet, but hearing commentary on it just sounds strange he would be in a bad mood after such a good win.

I don't think he was in a bad mood, people just thought he should be doing cartwheels. His theme was just trying to get better every week and be ready end of year when it really counts. Head coaches unless you are in Seattle just are not giddy as they know you are never as good or bad as your last performance and he may have seen some Chief tape too

Speak your mind brother. You shouldn’t be here if you’re overly sensitive. He’s had one really good game against a bad defense. Marcus mariota had a 129 rating and three TDS against Atlanta. Look no one is saying Watson sucks. He is our franchise and he has as much potential as any young QB in the league. That doesn’t make him top 5, yet. I believe he will be top three if OB gets his head out of his ass and let’s some else call plays. Watson still needs to work on recognizing blitzes and throwing the deep ball. Hopefully this cakewalk against Atlanta opened his eyes about getting the ball out faster. If so this could be where he makes that leap.

Did OB call the plays yesterday? He didn’t have his menu all day.

I have to think he didn't want to admit whatever the problem was or how it got fixed, or that Atlanta's lack of a pass rush & struggling secondary had more to do with our success yesterday.

That whatever our problems were, they're still there & he doesn't know how to fix it.

He was practicing his Bill Belichick impression.

Yep. I agree completely. #4 is really the only reason I have any positive thoughts about the future of this team. We spent so many years watching bad & mediocre QBs that it blows my mind that we are not collectively celebrating the fact that we finally have an elite talent at QB.

Deshaun is this franchise's future. Obviously it's a team game so all the pieces need to be in place, but he's never going to quit during a game and he truly believes he has a chance until 0:00 is on the board. We haven't had a QB like that in this city since. . .ever.

He seemed to be in a decent mood in the postgame interview with channel 13's "Inside the Game". He's never jubilant. He was happy with the game, but was already looking forward to dissecting the film and game plan for KC.

The biggest difference was Watson getting rid of the ball quickly.

The stats were posted in another thread ….

A couple of numbers after 5 games:

Watson leads the league in TDs with 14 (11 pass, 3 rush) together with Russell Wilson (12 pass, 2 rush)
Watson is second in the league for QBR with 115.9 (Russell Wilson is first with 126.3m Patrick Mahomes 3d with 114.7)
8th in the league for completion percentage (69.2%)
One of only 3 QBs with 10+ TDs and fewer than 2 interceptions
He has taken the 4th most sacks with 18

And all this with, at least in my mind, two of the worst games of his career this year. Dude is really special, he just needs to get more consistent and he can easily be one of the top 3 QBs every year...

Watson is a top five qb. This is coming from a colts fan. Y'all should be able to beat the chiefs.

That's it, right there. To me, a top flight, elite QB is one who is consistently good. That doesn't mean they can't have a bad game, but when you think of guys like Brady and Brees, they consistently put their team in position to win and they perform well way more often than not. I think the only thing keeping Watson from being one of the top 2 or 3 QBs in the league year in and year out is just seasoning. He'll get better at recognizing the blitz and exploiting it. He'll get better at reading defenses and getting the ball out before getting pummeled. He'll get better.

And that's scary for other teams when you think about how good he is now.

Not bad for a “dumb QB”

Might be the dumbest opinion I’ve read so far on this site ^
but at this point, why am I not surprised.

I respect the posters who bashed Watson in his draft day thread and admitted to there wrong later on. I can’t respect guys who won’t let there egos lose. Like get over it man. Watson doesn’t suck. He’s not going to get any worser. He has one poor game the day after his birthday and you have idiots calling him dumb lol. Swear I can’t stand ungrateful fans. Site needs a block button. He can win 4 Super Bowls. There’s always going to be that one critic whose never satisfied. I like it though. Keep doubting lol

It’s only like one or two posters that claim Watson is “too dumb” to run the EP system. Probably the same ones that claimed he was a run first, weak arm qb, with a slow throw velocity. Pay then no mind.
