Four years, $12 million for Will Montgomery

Over the weekend, word broke of a new four-year deal between the Redskins and center Will Montgomery. On Monday, the team announced the deal.

On Tuesday night, we’ve tripped across the numbers.

Per a source with knowledge of the contract, it’s a four-year, $12 million deal. Montgomery receives no signing bonus, but he’ll be paid a $2.75 million roster bonus in 2012, along with a base salary of $700,000 and a workout bonus of $50,000.

In 2013, Montgomery’s base salary moves to $1.85 million. He’ll also receive a roster bonus of $250,000 and a workout bonus of $50,000.

In 2014, the salary moves to $2.625 million, with another roster bonus of $250,000 and a workout bonus of $50,000.

In the final year of the deal, the salary becomes $3.125 million, with yet another roster bonus of $250,000 and a workout bonus of $50,000.

The cap numbers, if you care and if you’re still awake, are $3.5 million in 2012, $2.15 million in 2013, $2.925 million in 2014, and $3.425 million in 2015.

Montgomery was not listed in PFF's top 5 FA Centers going into the offseason, which I assume means little can be taken from his cap numbers in relation to what Chris Myers may cost to resign.

However, it does make Washington less likely to make a run at him, although given the structure of the contract I'm guessing they aren't necessarily completely out of the race as they could possibly have left themselves open to making him a camp casualty, but it looks unlikely.
