I almost threw up in my mouth.

HOUSTON -- It qualifies as ancient history now, and several Titans didn’t remember the specifics.

But when Vince Young burned a big blitz on a third-and-14 from the Houston 39-yard line on Dec. 10, 2006 for an overtime touchdown, he pulled off a play that symbolized how things can work for him.

The rookie made an electric play and got great blocks from Chris Brown and Bobby Wade who paved the way to the end zone. Part of the reason that path opened, however, was because Young had called a route wrong in the huddle.

The in-cut that was supposed to happen would have likely put a safety in his way to slow him down or change his course. The out-cut that took place instead just happened to clear out some of the space he was able to use.

Center Kevin Mawae worries about the protections, not the routes.

Don't know if he would have made the play, but sure would be nice if Mario didn't get egregiously held on that play.

Yeah. That was the hardest non-call to deal with to me anyways.

Mario is at LDE. Look at the far side of the play. As VY steps up, Mario turns to disengage and the RT holds him. Now like I said, hard to tell if he could have made the play - I suspect not. I just didn't like seeing him taken out of the play and frankly regardless of that, the hankee is supposed to fly. It was a far more egregious violation than say Kevin Walter getting called in the endzone away from the play for offensive holding.

I remember screaming at the tv when that happened. I was so pissed off about the no call there. IMO, Mario gets zero respect from officials. I see him get held constantly, and he rarely gets any calls in his favor. I don't know if he just hasn't earned the respect or if it's the way he runs (and flails his arms when he runs) that makes officials not give him any calls.
