If the texans were to draft vince young this year the team would not get much better because young would sit and carr would start like what is happening in San Diego. Then next year we sould have a top 5 pick again and we could get Oklahoma's stud and native texan Adrian Peterson

Good plan, I always enjoy shooting for a losing season and the top of next year's draft. Especially before this year's draft.

We don't need OU homers spreading their Adrian Peterson propoganda on this board. Bush is a god and Carr is a future Hall of Famer.

For that to happen, Carr is going to have to do well next season. I don't think he will. by week eight, Kubiak is going to realize we saw the best Carr had to offer in 2004........

then he'll start Vince week 9 :spy:

If you draft Brick this year, you mean trade down for AD next year, because the Texans will be picking #1 again....

Hope you remember DC's first year at QB, and the learning process, he ran a more pro style in college than VY, so the learning process is going to be even tougher, and VY has proven he doesn't have the power upstairs to learn a prostyle in 2 years nevermind half an offseason and training camp.

Drafting VY means the UT fans are happy and the level headded ones are claiming "I told you he was a college superstar but a pro flop."

What does running a pro-style offense have to do with adam from eve?

Can we run off a list of the number of BUST that ran pro-style offenses. Its a matter of can you adjust to the speed and complexity of the pro game.

Drafting VY doesn't mean squat other than that's who they thought was best for the team. I'm going to support whomever we draft. You can disagree with the pick for sure like most of us did last year.

I'm just curious as to what makes you assume he doens't have it upstairs?

Maybe we should run the spread....... I mean if it's all that at the college level. Dumb down, and simple, yet can't be stopped...... It's got to be awesome. take piss-poor to no good talent.... throw in the spread....... BAM... national Championship Oklahoma............. BAM.......... national championship Texas. Imagine Leinart in the spread?? You put a powerhouse QB in the spread against all those silly WAC defenses................. or David Carr.. put him in the spread. He's got a stronger arm than Vince, he's just as mobile. You put that kind of talent in the spread, I'm talking multiple Superbowls.

If the spread is all that, why don't every team run it. College/Pros/Canada/Europe??

Why? I know that was sarcasm thunder, cuz you seem to have more football moxy than that. What do y'all think of the idea of letting the chips fall where they may if we don't draft VY.Say we take Bush/trade down,DC has 3 years left in contract,so Let VY sign a 3 year deal with whoever,if he want's to play here so bad and DC is still not showing anything,In3 years we take him in FA.Let another team groom him and do the dirty work while we get the rest of the pieces of the puzzle in place.

it was pretty huge in the early 90s. warren moon got into the HOF operating from a run and shoot for a while. it may come back, but i doubt it. it's certainly not impossible though; the league goes in cycles

I really kind of like this idea. Young would be a good speed addition but how can we rely on the fact that Peterson stays healthy through out this year of college? Plus I beleive its time we see some results.

Drafting AP is a good idea. I am not a VY fan though. I believe Carr can do well given the time.

I really hope that we trade with the Jets or Raiders get our guy in Mario Williams either way and one of those teams is picking in the top 10 next year and we have their pick along with ours(hopefully best team not to make playoffs) and we can get AP then if we need him. I likely will be more open to the idea of AP than Reggie Bush. AP has been a stud since he stepped on campus Reggie took two years to really mature into one. Not bashing just saying. Either way AP would be sweet if DD, Wells, and Morency prove they cannot stay healthy or get the job done.

So many people get enamored with the skill positions that they forget there are 16 other starters on offense and defense. I don't want to see us with 50% of our payroll locked into our offense like the Colts. Best case scenario if you do that is a playoff caliber team that loses in the trenches come playoff time.

Avoid the Colt's Syndrome and vote for the Big Uglies in 2006!!! (I think I am going to change this to my sig).

Why would anybody want to get a running back coming out of college now with a #1 pick, when the most NFL ready running back talent is still playing in the NCAA? The man had nearly 2000 yards as a Freshman and I do believe that he did not start the first couple of games. The only reason he didn't have that production this year is because they had a Freshman QB and they stacked 10 guys in the box to stop him and he still broke big runs, bad ankle and all. He has the breakaway speed of an NFL back as well as the power to run through and over tacklers...There is no real reason to believe that the Texans will be above 5-11 or 6-10 next season (new offensive/defensive schemes, new/young personnel) I can not imagine how dominant this team could be on offense within three years with Young, Peterson and an improved supporting cast...

Peterson is a stud, but what worries me is injuries. His ankle slowed him down a lot this year, and with his running style it exposes him to a lot of big time hits. He might be able to shrug off those defenders in the college ranks, but those hits will take a toll over a 16 game pro season if he doesn't change his style.
