Texans | Team to move down in draft
    Fri, 27 Apr 2007 10:45:45 -0700

Neil Stratton, of Inside the League, has learned that the Houston Texans, as rumored previously, will swap first-round draft picks with the Denver Broncos in this year's NFL Draft Friday, April 27, in exchange for Denver's second-round pick, No. 56 overall. With the Texans' first- and second-round picks, the team is considering four players: Utah FS Eric Weddle, Ohio State WR Anthony Gonzalez, USC WR Dwayne Jarrett and Florida S Reggie Nelson.

    per www.kffl.com

Only a first-swap and a second? We get the shaft?

And I don't like the idea of drafting Jarrett.

I hope Reggie Nelson will be there.

Pretty good trade. I would do it. I've always liked the 2nd round better than the first.

If this is true, Rick Smith just got pwned again. I like the trade by all means but we got severely killed in value.

Why aren't these clubs keeping mum about this trade? By opening up about the trade, they risk losing the player the covet. There's still plenty of time for another club to make a move. This doesn't make any sense.

    :hmmm:

KFFL tends to not have to retract to many stories, profootballtalk they are not. I'd put money on kffl being right about this.

Just keep in mind, with this draft, everyone wants to trade down. So if you really want to, you can't go by the value chart.

This kills all talk of Peterson falling to the Texans.

Ever heard of the Matt Schaub trade? If Rick Smith ever has a garage sale, I want to know about it.

I agree. And we don't know that this is official but I would like to see something crafty out of Smith. Even if we swap our 4th for their 3rd. All in all, any trade down is beneficial for us and if we get Nelson, thank you 20 other teams.

Awesome news! If we can get Anthony Gonzales in the first in round 1, and Weddle in round 2, I would be escatatic. I am also cool with, although less so, with Nelson in rd 1, and Jarrett in rd 2, but I smell bust with Jarrett.

Each draft is different and value is realitive year to year. If we pull off this trade, then this year at least, Schaub only costs a move from #8 to #21. Talk about a steal. :splits:

IF this is true, Landry will fall to 10 now.

How do you figure? He could still go at #8 to the Falcons.

Folks--don't get too bent on value right now. Remember how many times the reports changed on the compensation for Schaub? If it is real at all it may change more than once in the reporting.

Laundry doesn't fit what we need in a coverage safety, never has, and never will. Nelson or Weddle are the best two cover safeties in the draft, and in our scheme, either will be more vaulable to us (imo of course)

Just curious, but how many OSU games did you watch all the way through? I watched a bunch, and I have to totally disagree with your take. I would be thrilled to get Gonzo. He will make an awesome #2 and will be the perfect compliment to AJ. I like Bowe a little better but not a whole lot. But, I have heard that Bowe has turned a lot of teams off with a cocky me first attitude, and that could be turning the Texans off. I think I would take him anyway, but just throwing that out there.
