This piece put together a realistic look at how the "outside world" sees the Texans...........realistically. The media that seemed to have begun to give us some recognition before the season began will be piling on even more recognition...............negative recognition, that is. It's not like it's undeserved. But it will be hard to read, even for the most critical of Texans fans. [LINK]

    Austin has a paper ;)

The Cushing call was terrible IMO and this was the first game of the year that the officiating was really biased towards one team(the Jags).

That said we did not lose because the refs, we lost because our defense can not tackle or cover but the refs sure did help seal the deal.

    A) I didn't realize the Jags were starting two rookie offensive tackles. That makes the Texans ineffective defense sting even more.

    B) This writer doesn't know anything about building a team the right way, slow and steady.

I'm sorry but IMO the Cushing call was dead-on. He did it and got flagged for it. I think it was just frustration.

It was a legit call. The refs didn't screw the Texans, the defense screwed the Texans.

Yeah and you still say the refs were biased and still didn't help in the end despite not blaming them. They didn't get screwed. No help at all. All on the Texans.

Which is true but I flat out said "we did not lose because the refs, we lost because our D"

After so many years, I have to question if the Texans truly know anything about building a team the right way. How painfully "slow" must it be? Let me see..........It took G-d how long to...............

I feel the offensive pass interference call and the fumble call were both wrong. But we should've never let it get to that point on Battle Red Day.

I'm not a huge football knowledge guy, but that foul seems nearly impossible for a defensive player to not commit...

MJD was riding the sideline, breaking tackle after tackle, and then when he sees
Cushing come up for the tackle, he steps out of bounds right as he launches and then gets hit.

It seems to me that the offensive player can get that call 9 times out of 10 if they just wait for the defensive player to commit and step out of bounds and take the hit. I mean, Cushing hit him probably half a second after MJD stepped out of bounds, how can he hold up like that when MJD is running through our defenders and you can't tackle him if you're not going at him 100%?

Well you would've thought The NFL had this one circled with the way the announcer was talking crap at the end of the game. Even at one point he says "I'm not on the Texans side but this was pass interference."

The Austin American Statesman wrote about The Texans? I wonder how small that article would be if we won. Last week, we beat Tenn in perhaps the best game of the week. That article was tiny and proceeded by a huge article on how Dallas lost.

Beat me to it. Exactly. The Texans get a two-paragraph AP write up when things are looking good, then after a loss such as this they suddenly take an interest. It's really predictable. Same thing with the Astros and Rockets. To be honest though, I've grown not to mind it so much. When they do get around to writing an article about Houston teams they are so woefully uninformed they aren't worth the paper they're written on.

I frankly don't care how much or how little anyone has written about us before. His points were well taken. I thought especially telling was the reference he made to UH. That team, made up of a lot of freshmen and sophomores, is showing more heart and intelligence than these overpaid "professionals" that are on the Texans.

Kubiak says they have a lot to fix. IMO, that's about 8 weeks too late. Training camp is where you work on the basic things: tackling, assignments, etc. It's not too much to expect a better defense now. The Broncos have turned it around in one year. The Niners are much better than two years ago. These coaches and players need a come to Jesus meeting in the worst way. If these guys can't get it done (players and coaches), then replace them, and get somebody who can. Fix what's wrong, and then go on.
