Hey I know this is early but the way the Gators are playing they DO NOT stand a chance against the Longhorns with the shovel pass nor the option so I hope they plan for something else. The Longhorn is too smart and fast that BS. I'm just disgusted on the fact that how many people in Afghanistan think that the 'Horns are gonna lose and I just can't wait for The 'Horns to prove them wrong.:cow:

Now I understand that they play the Tide next week but the way TX plays in big games it'll be a win/win situation. They just have another level of play at BCS games that's unexplainable.:cowboy1:

Florida, Alabama, and practically any other decent SEC team would absolutely crush Texas.

Texas uses a lot of screen passes and dump offs as running plays because their running game is worthless. SEC defenses can stop that.

FSU's defense sucks, one of the worst in the nation. FSU also has a freshman QB that made his 3rd start. What the Gators did today doesn't really prove anything.

That is such b.s. Fla and Ala have had close calls this year and have serious offensive problems. I think UT,,,and my Frogs could beat either.

Florida doesn't have serious offensive problems.

Alabama does, and I seriously doubt they'd "crush" UT. In fact, aside from Florida, I doubt any SEC team has the capability to "crush" UT this season. And Florida may just get surprised, but we'll have to wait and see.

People should not be looking past Nebraska right now.

LOL, sounds just like "USC fan" back in '05.

I honestly believe Colt McCoy was instructed to not run the ball earlier on in the season, because he didn't really try to early on. The McCoy we saw against A&M is the duel threat QB we saw all of last year.....alot of "designed runs" for McCoy and that's something other teams are going to have to gameplan for now.......that offense is rolling and that offense is probably the best offense out of all the top 3 teams. On the defensive side, Texas can also hang with Florida, Alabama, and practically any other decent SEC team

I have no idea why so many people are dismissing Texas. They lost one game last year and came into the season with a major chip on their shoulder due to their belief they should have been there playing Florida over OU last year. They are winning by an average score of 45-15. Their QB is on a mission and Earl Thomas is a seriously underrated force in their secondary. Sure they feature small scatbacks, but it's not like this is new for them -- this is the school of Eric Metcalf, Priest Holmes, Jamaal Charles, and Selvin Young. If Colt can force the opponent to hesitate and respect his own scrambling ability, the Horns will be very tough to shut down.

I have a feeling it's going to be UT and Florida. It's not like Alabama under Saban has been iron in big games. Apart from nearly choking yesterday, they managed to lay two massive eggs last year in the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl against Utah -- two double digit losses to cap off their undefeated regular season. Winning all of your midseason games against the likes of MSU and Vanderbilt doesn't mean jack unless you win the games that count. Despite the rhetoric Alabama hasn't shown they can.

And this Horns team is eerily similar to the one that knocked off the presumed unbeatable best team of all time in 2004. That team quietly beat the crap out of every opponent they faced too, and was seething with resentment as USC got all the blather, hype, and silly uninformed speculation the entire season.

I would agree that the SEC is the best overall conference, but the gap isn't nearly as large as some like to pretend it is. People act like no one outside the conference could possibly even have a winning record in the SEC. Give me a break -- LSU is lucky they aren't .500. Jevon Snead, the same QB that UT said sayonara to (he sucked and couldn't cut it in our program) managed to beat them, and they very nearly laid an egg against a run of the mill Arkansas team. Ole Miss is an ok team, but nothing legendary. They'd be just another run of the mill team in the Big 12 or Pac 10 too, the exact same way they are in the SEC. They are Missouri or Nebraska -- formidable opponents but certainly not unbeatable.

From what I saw the Big 12 and SEC faced off against each other twice this year (Oklahoma State vs Georgia and A&M vs Arkansas). They finished 1-1. The Big 12 South alone had 3 top 10 teams last year, and had 3 top 10 teams to open the season this year. Oklahoma had a star crossed season, but it's not like they've fallen off the map forever. They will be right back there. So will OSU, UT, and Tech. A&M is rapidly improving, as is Nebraska. Missouri is never a pushover. Let's take a breath and realize that the SEC is not playing a different level of football than everyone else. There are some elite teams in the conference, some good ones with flaws, and some mediocre teams. There are even one or two teams that play SEC football who are just not very good, believe it or not.

Not only is that offense probably the best of the top 3 teams - the Texas defense is probably the best of the top 3.

Pending Texas gets past Nebraska in the Big 12 Title game - Whoever they face in the Bowl Crap Series Champeensh!t will have their hands absolutely full on both sides of the ball.

This is a year in which I'd really like to see a playoff of the top six teams ... all undefeated.

I would love a playoff system, but as someone who's followed the college game for awhile, I've all but given up on that pipe dream, which is why I'd be willing to compromise and settle with a +1 format.

I'd rather the 5th ranked team get screwed over than the 3rd ranked team in the country, because mainly how often are we going to have this many undefeated teams? Take the #1 team and have them play #4, #2 play #3, and then the winners battle it out for the national title. Hell the title game is played so late now they would be able to work out the scheduling pretty easily. It would atleast be a step in the right direction.

Arkansas is not a bad team at all and its been their kicker who has lost them a few games. I think Mallet is a better QB then McCoy, but the Longhorns have a great WR and the best D in the nation. People will always view the SEC as the best. I think Texas is the number one team this year, but anything can happen in the Big 12 title game.

The term "Strength vs. Strength" comes to mind here:

    Texas
    55th rushing offense
    13th passing offense
    17th total offense
    2nd scoring offense
    1st rush defense
    9th pass efficiency defense
    3rd total defense
    7th scoring defense
    8th turnover margin
    22nd pass defense
    7th sacks
    3rd tackles for loss

    Florida
    9th rushing offense
    65th passing offense
    15th total offense
    10th scoring offense
    7th rushing defense
    2nd pass efficiency defense
    2nd total defense
    1st scoring defense
    17th turnover margin
    1st pass defense
    18th sacks
    66th tackles for loss

    Alabama
    10th rushing offense
    89th passing offense
    30th total offense
    23rd scoring offense
    2nd rushing defense
    1st pass efficiency defense
    1st total defense
    2nd scoring defense
    5th turnover margin
    5th pass defense
    27th sacks
    24th tackles for loss

Florida has not played a "descent" ranked team all season. LSU does not count, sorry Tiger fans. Alabama played VT but that is the only game that I seen they would have trouble with, which they didn't. UT has had 3 highly ranked teams that they've played yet they have still beat them. I don't know I just can't wait it's gonna be a good game whomever we play. Nebraska has no chance perioud that is my take on the big 12 game, we ain't worried.:fans:

Everybody knows the national championship game this year is between FLA
& 'Bama and anything after that is anticlimactic.

Right. Guess we should go ahead and cancel the Championship Game since we know who is going to win it anyway. Hell, if Lee Corso said it it's gospel.
