Week 1 vs. Payton Manning.
If the Houston Texans are able unable to sign a veteran strong safety but nails down a free agent corner then look for the tandem of Quin and rookie strong safety Shiloh Keo to make a possible opening day start together at the two safety positions.
SANTA MARIA!!!!! That could be disasterous. Well, maybe not as disasterous as some of our other "attempts" at a safety combination, but still a bad idea going against Manning on opening day with a rookie and a 3rd year player at a new position.
Oh, c'mon, how bad could it be??
Not as bad as Matt Stevens or CC Brown, but pretty bad nonetheless.
This picture came to mind.
I just spewed Dr. Pepper all over my monitor and I think I peed a little bit!!!
Quin your role is to knock the ball away from receiver & make solid tackles. Don't worry about where you line up
I really think the Texans are in do or die mode this season, so I expect them to go balls to the wall in FA. However, if they don't they are in for some rough times.
He will be a free agent once the labor dispute is settled. I'm hoping he goes elsewhere. I would love to see Quinn and Keo starting at safety against Curtis Painter
Yeah, but the Colts franchised him, so unless the tag goes by the wayside as part of the finalized CBA (which would be pretty shocking), he's staying a Colt. Most likely for the rest of his career, or until he gets so old it doesn't matter ala Emmitt Smith.
As I see it, we need to add a quality FA safety and mortgage the farm for Aso. If we do that, we have a pretty good chance at a good playoff run.
I'm pretty sure that when it's all said and done Houston will land Aso and Quinn will be the starting FS.
Really? I'll believe it when I see it...landing Aso that is, I'll agree that Quinn will be the starting FS.
My thought exactly. I've read many here reffering to the 'status quo' since last season and McNair's quote about not doing anything stupid. I agree with that statement. This is also the first time I've seen both the owner and GM state publicly that "we'll be very aggressive in free agency". Quite the turnabout from prior public statements i.e.; "we're not looking for players that are done and looking for one last paycheck." There are top notch players in FA that this team NEEDS. I will not be surprised when the FO springs some moves that many did not expect them to make.
Maybe that's just me.
Maybe............or did they just know there won't be any Free Agency THIS YEAR?
Yeah, I'm conflicted. I can read yes and no into the situation. My heart says we need to go after Aso 100%.
I'm going to go on record that Nolan and Quinn will be the starting safeties week 1, if the season does start in time. I hope that Keo does become our safety of the future but I just don't see a rookie coming in with no mini/training camp preperation become the starter week 1, just my opinion.
What was our secondary lineup last year vs the colts wk 1 ????
did we really start Jackson wk 1 snap 1 ???? and GQ has well ???? i forgot
Quinn's role and focus should be to NOT SUCK.
