Texans worked out 6 DTs including former 1st round pick Kentwan Balmer

Balmer could compete with Mitchell as backup to Cody at NT? Does anyone know of the other DTs?

The Texans also tried out former Atlanta Falcons starting defensive lineman Trey Lewis, former New England Patriots defensive tackle Kade Weston and Landon Cohen, former Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Lamar Divens and former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Ra'Shon Harris.

The first part was the continuation of LaCanfora's immediately preceding tweet - all those guys worked out for the Cowboys.

Maybe I'm not trying hard enough, but I'm confused?

Who exactly worked out for us?

Did I really see CC Brown mentioned?

    Thanks for the link...

That made a lot more sense...

As far as the Texans trying out DT's, I wonder if someone is banged up or if they want to find someone to put pressure on Mitchell and Cody....

Saw in another thread that someone THINKS or thought, at the time, that Antonio Smith might be nicked up a little???

Never really saw any confirmation, though there was only two posts when I saw the thread and I haven't been back to see if it was confirmed or not.

99 percent of the time these workouts have nothing to do with positions they want to sign. They are simply keeping up with their info incase a need might come up down the road.

This is completely random but I've never seen this mentioned:

Are players paid for working out with teams? Or at least compensated travel? It would really suck to be a player without a paycheck having to pay your own way around the country with airfare and hotel, only to get a "thanks for coming in but we're going in another direction."

I'm pretty sure it works like most out of town job interviews - you're not compensated for your time, but your travel and other legitimate expenses are either paid directly by the team or reimbursed.

I say this because I've heard folks discuss the amount it costs teams to try out players (implying that it's a large number).

At least the way the Texans do them. every week there is a position or two that they bring in for specific workouts on the "off-day" for the signed players. They have done it this way for years, and pretty much every week we see the names and start speculating on moves that rarely are about to happen.
