Texans VS Chiefs WK 1...Let's Predict ;)

Cheeves 30
Texans 13

An old fashioned tail kicking. It's hard to predict a score on blowouts; you don't know how mad the winner is. The Squaws will beat them as badly as they want to beat them, let's put it that way.

KC offense is not very good, if our D which looks to be top 10 gives up 30 to KC, then we are in for a long long season.

It's gonna be tight so, I'll just say this..
We have not lost an opener since 2009 and of the handful of previous opening losses, none were at the hands of the Chiefs, and we are not about to start now. :coolb:
(knock on wood - no jinxi) (amazed there's not a 'knock on wood' emoti)

As an aside.. the upsets this week will be Pittsburgh over New England and quite possibly Buffalo over Indianapolis.
Edit: Tennessee upsets Tampa Bay as well.

Chiefs 20
Texans 16

Texans run game struggles and Chiefs pass rush cause a couple of turnovers that are the difference in the game.

Okay, the Chiefs had one of the MOST underrated pass rushes in the NFL last year. They have a DE whose numbers rival J.J. Watt and they made some pretty decent aquisitions. Anyone who thinks this will be a cake walk is mistaken. While the Texans have one of the BEST DCs in the game and some MAGNIFICENT talent, the elephant in the room can't go ignored. We STILL don't have a proven QB and while a lack of game film on our QB de jour might work to our advantage for maybe four games, eventually it'll bite us in the butt. I predict that a J.J Watt, Brian Cushing lead defense will be kicking butt and having fun while our offense will look like the Keystone Cops. IF they come out with a win it won't be by much and will be because they were able to exploit chinks in armor of the secondary OR the O-line will be a force to be reckoned with. I'm going to RELECTANTLY say Texans by 5.

Look it up yourself.. JJ did not lead the league in sacks last season.

Hint, we are playing him.

The only guy who had more sacks than JJ was Justin Houston, who is an OUTSIDE LINEBACKER and a DEDICATED PASS RUSHER

So again, the question remains...what DE on the Chiefs has comparable numbers to Watt?

Sorry, didn't know reindeer games had been called in September. Seemed early, no snow or elves and all. Carry on.

I think his point is Houston is an OLB

You know Houston, the guy that many wanted the Texans to draft in the 2nd rd. Clowney wouldn't have been drafted if Houston had been picked and the course of the franchise would've been changed.

Pot Smoker = # Not Texans worthy.

Oh well another yr of Watt's career wasted, just like AJ's.

Sticking with this...

Justin Houston and Tamba Hali are a fearsome duo for an offensive line with new members, new positions, and newly returned from injury...

Chiefs team that I think wins the West.

Ugly, long, and unfulfilling... 15-15 tie.

With your love of semantics and details, you should have caught on to that. You're slipping.

Semantics are important where they signify a difference in application. For pass rush they don't unless you bring up who is responsible for handling it.

I thought we'd win, now... I'm thinking we'll almost win.

& we'll revel in that for a week.

Texans 16 - Chiefs 13. While I expect the Texans to struggle against the Chiefs D, I'm pretty sure B'OB will have a little sumthin for them for us to eke by.

Just for the result of MB chaos, I predict a win bought with a defensive TD despite a sputtering offense. Hoyer neither wins nor loses the game - he is met at home by his wife with a bowl of popcorn to review the MB debate over whether he is Ryan Leaf or Tom Brady.

I predict a 14-24 loss. I don't expect us to sustain drives. Probably will have a turnover or two, more likely strip sacks than interceptions, but one of each wouldn't be surprising.

It's freakin' personal anytime the Kansas City Chiefs gain a first down!
Our defense is going to dominate their ass and win the damn game. :kingkong:

Texans 34, Chiefs 6

As I predicted in the other thread a few days ago.
I was feeling generous at the time. KC should score 0.

The Chiefs are nowhere near as talented as the Texans. It will show on Sunday.

This is what I'm leaning towards. Not sure of the details but I'm leaning towards loss.

Is this game at Kansas City and not NRG Stadium?
It baffles me how people are actually picking the Chiefs.
They're not going to come into our house and beat us!

I'm predicting a low-scoring affair as two dominant defences... err... dominate. No idea who wins, looks like a pick 'em to me.

If the Chiefs win there will be riots in the streets of htown, pure chaos. The world will feel our wrath, and tremble at the thought of crazed pitchfork carrying houstonians. And Hoyer will still be our starter........ OB you hard headed mother ****** ;)

This is exactly how it will go down. :cutthroat:

The Chiefs will not score a touchdown. Well.. their offense will not score a touchdown. Barring a pick-six or kick return.. they will settle for three field goals, one of which isn't our defense's fault, rather a turnover (probably a fumble) that sets up the Chiefs on our end of the field.. but once again, they still can't punch it in.

Our offense will come out hyped up, and unfortunately that will hurt us but once we settle down we will put together four scoring drives. I'm going with 2 of each flavor for a tally of 20-9.

Our defense will have the league talking amongst themselves and in private where they will admit to their deflated egos that they are scared to face us.

Watt will have a monster game, which will also put the league on notice that he's just gonna keep breaking records and then.. when the dust settles.. he will have the biggest specialty burger named after him by our favorite local drive-thru.
I can't believe it hasn't happened yet as it is.

What are you waiting for.. WATT-A-BURGER ?!?

I should have been his agent.

For everyone saying we have Hoyer at QB, they have Alex Smith. I'm calling that a push.
They do however have Jamaal Charles.

Essentially same record, attempts and yardage

Completion % - Smith 65.3% to Hoyer 55.3%
TD:INT Ratio - Smith 3:1 to Hoyer 1:1
QB Rating - Smith 93.4% to Hoyer 76.5%

Queue the "look at the hot mess he was forced to play with" arguments, but just like when comparing to Fitz, until he actually plays better than Smith, he isn't as good as Smith.

And Jamaal Charles rushed for 55 or less yards in 6 games last season, so it's not like he had a great running game protecting him.

For as much as people complained about Fitz last year, compare him and Alex Smith's number. In essence we're playing Fitz minus the beard. Meh.
Jamaal Charles compared to Alfred Blue isn't even a fair. Charles is a game changer. We lack that at RB going into this game.
Nuk and Maclin, I'd probably say that's a push; even though I want to go with Nuk.

Any chance Cushing thinks twice about trying to steam roll Charles on a blitz again this game?

Yes, I would put Fitz and Smith into the same category. And Hoyer has yet to prove he can play at that level over an entire season. Does he have the potential? Sure. But he is not better than Smith based on unrealized potential.

I wasn't comparing Charles to Blue. Completely agree that he is a game changer and a very special RB. I was stating that before the debate started about Smith being protected by a strong running game, Charles had a difficult season for him last year. Barely made 1,000 yards and played the whole season. There were several games last season where the Chiefs' running game struggled. I see no reason why he will not revert to form this year. It wasn't an assertion about his play in the game on Sunday.

Charles actually had a good year last year. He ran for 5 yards per carry last season through 15 games. That's elite. The Chiefs as a whole ran for 4.6 yards per carry. That was good for 5th in the league.

Yes, but he only had 206 carries, well below the last two years. And did have 6 games where he rushed for less than 55 yards. While he had 1,000 yards and 5 YPC, it wasn't an elite season for him. His 5.0 YPC was actually a career low if you can believe it and his 1,033 yards was lowest since becoming a full time starter his second season. He is still elite, and I imagine he will have another very good season this year. Again, I pointed out the down year for him as part of the Smith-Hoyer comparison. Nothing against Charles at all. Dude scares me when we play him because of his big play ability.

After watching Brady tonight, I'm confident Hoyer is going to...

Throw to the TE's.

I don't think hoyer will be a total disaster but without a running game he will struggle.

So I predict the Texans defends contains Jamaal Charles and hoyer Won't be horrid.

Texans 20
Chiefs 17
