#Texans dealing a 7th round pick for Broncos Chris Clark (6-5, 315). Been with the Broncos since 2010. Played at Southern Mississippi.

Clark has appeared in 69 games with 27 starts since 2010. 21 coming in the last two seasons. #Texans

    BIO

    • A sixth-year offensive tackle who appeared in 69 games (27 starts) with Denver during the last five seasons (2010-14) after two years competing on Minnesota’s practice squad.

    • Started 14 regular-season games and three playoff contests at left tackle in place of injured All- Pro Ryan Clady in 2013 as part of an offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks (20) in the NFL.

    • Spent the 2008 and ‘09 seasons on the Vikings’ practice squad after competing in Tampa Bay’s training camp as a rookie in ‘08.

    • Started every game at left tackle during his final three seasons at the University of Southern Mississippi, earning All-Conference USA recognition following his senior year.

    • Played in the New Orleans High School All-Star Game and was named an All-District offensive guard as a senior at McDonogh 35 High School in New Orleans.

    • Assigned to the Broncos via waivers from Minnesota on Sept. 5, 2010.

    • Entered the NFL with Tampa Bay as a college free agent on May 2, 2008.

Clark earned a +3.4 overall grade in 87 snaps this preseason, a -7.4 overall grade in 2014, and a +14.1 overall grade in 2013 from PFF.

They needed to upgrade the reserve OLine spots. I wonder if they'll give any consideration to playing him at guard. LG is a real weak spot.

Posted this in the other thread but will post it here as well...

He's been a swing tackle for them as well as playing some OG. Has been solid at both. Don't be surprised if he gets a shot at LG.

We could see him starting at OT though if Brown isn't ready to go week 1.

Clark is due $1.4M this year and is an UFA next year so looks like a one-year rental.

Has a playtime escalator clause as well, I am awaiting details on that.

I'm thinking insurance for Duane Brown's injury and replacement as swing for J.Adams.

Clark slots in just behind Duane Brown as second oldest OL at 29.

I was informed of the trade last night and @HoustonTexans are getting a GREAT person in Chris Clark.

Hope he can contribute positively to our depth. He lost his job to a rookie and Ryan Harris at RT. Last year, the Broncos OL performance was relatively poor. Peyton's quick release saved the Broncos from their pass protection stats looking terrible, but not enough to save him from multiple hits and injury.

Chatter became louder. At one point, Julius Thomas caught a touchdown pass during drills and blurted, "This is too easy."

The embers soon grew into a flame.

The trenches can become fire pits, and Wednesday didn't disappoint. Texans defensive end J.J. Watt squared off with Broncos right tackle Chris Clark. Clark pulled off Watt's helmet, drawing a flag and Watt's advice.

"Don't get mad when you get beat!" Watt said with a strut befitting his all-pro status.

Is it just me or does Chris Clark sort of remind you of Rick Smith?
I love his attitude. Good addition to the team. He'll be good depth.

Probably the best, most experienced guy they could get at this point. I bet Kubes has given us the inside line on a player that was getting cut but ain't too bad. When your picking up guys at this point in the offseason, it's a case of desperate times calling for desperate measures.
