so that people who were upset about signing Orlovsky to a reasonable contract will have something to talk about during the offseason.

    Professional career
    Minnesota Vikings
Booty broke with convention and stated on a national television broadcast, more than a week before the NFL draft, that he hoped to be selected by the Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted by the Vikings in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. Booty made the team after a pre-season battle for the third spot on the depth chart with Brooks Bollinger. He did not take a snap in 2008, but after starter Gus Frerotte went down with a lower back injury, Booty was listed as the second string quarterback during the week 15 meeting with the Arizona Cardinals and Tarvaris Jackson made the start.

After an unimpressive performance in the pre-season, Booty was waived by the Vikings on September 5, 2009; however he was subsequently signed to the team's practice squad. He was released from the practice squad on October 14, 2009, only to be re-signed to it on October 17. He was subsequently released from the Vikings again on October 21, 2009.

    Tennessee Titans
Booty was signed to Tennessee Titans practice squad on October 28, 2009.

    Houston Texans
After his contract with the Titans expired at the end of the 2009 season, Booty signed a future contract with the Houston Texans.

We're going to trade him to the Seahawks for a 2nd round pick! Pete Carroll won't be able to resist having a QB from USC

    wishful thinking

For an insurance purpose IMO. Rex likely to be gone. As for Orlovsky, are you comfortable with him? It is good for the Texans to look for young QB to try out and see if he fits. Who knows, Booty may get to be our third back up QB and future back up for us.

    Go Texans!!!

At best he's a solid signing and could compete for the backup spot.....at worst he's a camp arm, which we'd need anyways.

I think people were less upset about the contract and more upset at how Carr-esque Orlovsky looked on the field. He's been in the league for 5 years. He shouldn't look so raw and awkward at this point.

This was my first thought as well. Rex only signed a one year deal and I'm not sure what it says that someone as up and down as Rex won the backup spot. I think Rex will likely have a real hard time finding a starting spot and if he's going to be a backup why not here where he'll likely be able to improve his game.

Teams should always develop the qb position and kubes is pretty good at it. Booty gives the team 3 qb's with 2 in development. The got sage for nothing and could had a 3rd pick for him. Look at the old packers how they got guys like brunell, brooks, and hasselback and traded those guys for high picks.

    Reasonable? Orlovsy is dramatically overpaid.

Perhaps save us from wasting a low round draft pick on a QB that will never make the team. Instead we could draft another postion that will never make the team. LOL
