The Houston Texans are expected to sign free agent defensive end Jarvis Green, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

A fourth-round pick (126th overall) in the 2002 NFL Draft out of LSU by the New England Patriots Green started 46 games over the last eight seasons, totaling 232 tackles and 28 quarterback sacks.

Green signed a four-year, $20 million contract with the Denver Broncos in March, but was released on September 4, despite receiving a $2.5 million signing bonus and a base salary guarantee for the 2010 season.

When Mario Williams (along with Briesel and David Anderson) go on IR, you need to sign somebody!

Actually, I'm surprised there haven't been multiple threads started on the subject!

Green has always been a good player in the 3-4. May be an interior russ-specialist here.

Mark Anderson has been a beast this year, it will be interesting to see how he does with more playing time.

It's a solid signing. I would resign Anderson now if he is in his last year. He's a good player.
