Does this regime assign no value to draft picks?

Not a bad deal if the contract is right.

The very BEST QB of Bill O'Brien's tenure lies with that 2nd RD pick.

Butler is a top flight CB. He is easily worth a #1 draft pick, because if you drafted a CB you don't even know if he'd pan out. Butler is top 10 easily and arguably top 5.

I don't see how the Texans can keep giving away draft picks though if they're trying to draft a QB. They just wasted one on letting go of Oz, so losing that next year and another one this year would really hurt their draft pick opportunities to find their QB. However, they'd have one of the best CB tandems in the league.

There is nothing new here, actually it's the same source as before that the Texans are "interested." There is no indication that they've offered anything.

Here is the fly in the ointment, Butler would have to be a sign and trade and his new contract will likely be more than Bouye's. So to replace Bouye they will have to give up a 2nd RD draft pick and pay Butler more than Bouye's new contract. (Shades of Brandon Brooks)

Not a given they are interchangeable, but even if isn't butler inclined to take less money because his tender is quite small so by getting paid sooner works somewhat to his advantage?

Have you seen them draft? If so then why should we assign any value to draft picks they have in their hands?

Agreeable ofcourse, but we've also seen them grab useless (and expensive) free agents.

Rougly speaking, we run a crap shoot operation.

Getting a starter at any position for a draft pick is not to be overlooked. Having said that this is a deep draft for DBs so I can make argument for going either way.

PS: He had ankle injury in 2nd week and hip week 15 of last season; not sure how serious but could be issue.

His individual effort won a Super Bowl.

He's better than Bouye, and you don't have to wait 2 years to develop a rookie who may not pan out.

I would take him for a 2nd in a heartbeat.

Looks like Butler is going to the Saints.

Butler was rated the #3 corner in the league by PFF.

I'm not saying they are the holy grail, but you can take away that he is at least an above average guy in the league.
