Seems to be known for intelligence, speed and sure tackling per several predraft profiles. A knock was that he was too light, but he seemed to get it done.

Here is a nice VIDEO of his highlights. You might say "He's everywhere.......He's everywhere!"

During his senior year at Brigham Young, he had the team season high of 11.5 tackles for a loss.

    Here's an article on Nixon.

Looks like he's worked on gaining weight and "brute strength."

I think this is a pick for Joe for Special Teams and possibly a guy we can develop as a Will.

I talked to a Raider fan about him in my fantasy league draft today but he hadn't ever heard of him. (I guess he's not as hardcore about his team as I thought he was.)

Nixon went to my alma mater BYU. I don't know what he had done since leaving but at BYU he and Brian Kehl (with Giants) where the outside backers in the 3-4 scheme. Nixon was a playmaker. He was an excellent pass rusher off the edge and very good open field tackler. He also made a number of plays in coverage. I was always surprised to see he hadn't gotten much of a chance with anyone.

The one thing I wonder about is in our 4-3 scheme is how well he can shed blockers.

I've seen some YouTube videos of Jamar Wall's hitting ability from his days at Tx Tech but does anyone know if he can handle man coverage?

Nixon played in only 3 games with the Raiders. It would be like someone asking your thoughts on Khary Campbell.

    Who? Exactly.

At least I know Khary Campbell was on our roster last year and was active for maybe a game as a special teamer.

    YES.

That was our pre-draft discussion back in the day, wasn't it?

I was a big Jamar Wall guy back then. I think Beerlover nailed it.

He needs to be a guy who just roams the field and isn't the primary man, such as CBs are. He's supporting the CBs. Pure and simple.

Dude can lay the smack down.

This was from a pre-draft mock on the texanstalk board awhile back:

5th) Jamar Wall (CB) – Instinctive player that can play both man & zone coverages equally well. Sticks to his man like glue all over the field. Solid tackler & plays the run well. Has a great vertical (40.5”) & uses it to defeat larger WR’s in the endzone. Is a strong special teams player & return man.

Link to thread: look at "Scenario 3" in post #1 in this thread...

He's just hitting up all his old stomping grounds isn't he?

I'm calling his next stop to be back in Oakland.

David Nixon looks to have great side line to side line speed. He should be a good special teamer and who knows we may see him on the field when offenses try to spread us out.
