and its not called back! glory be praised!

oh, and hes also caught some great passes in traffic. and beck looks really good. oh and the defense is looking better too. i fear this team may not want that #1 pick.

McNabb got hurt and AJ Feeley came in, and he just threw a pick. ah, old times.

    Wait, no KOLB?

Good thing Beck is playing well. I am thinking about going to the bar with my dolphins friend. Just watched the Dynamo win the championship.

miami holds a 7-3 lead going into the half.

the passrush for miami has been great, and the secondary is blanketing the receivers. i do t think their receivers have more than a couple of receptions.

beck has pro bowler pocket presence. love this guy.

17-7 Eagles. Dolphins are at the 1.

Probably will run it in with Chatman, should anyway.

Why? Because the talking heads say so?

Why does everyone think its such a bad pick.

The only think I see that that you could argue is that Trent Green coming back from the concussion (sp?) you need a back-up and a QB for the Future.

My counter arguements are: They fully expected Green to come in and play well. You have a "right now" back-up already in Cleo Lemon, and you drafted Beck for your QB of the future.

Sure, Quinn was on the board, and EVERY talking head said the Dolphins should take him.

They entered the draft thinking their defense had a full head of steam after finishing the season hot. The only things I could even see them taking in the first round last year were QB, WR, and OL.

I think it's a good pick up with Beck. Explosive WR, son of a football coach. Good guy, not an asshole playmaking WR like so many you see. Nothing wrong with his performances this year, I just haven't seen a QB for the Dolphins that can a) not freak out when the protection breaks down or b) read the defense consistantly. Maybe Beck can do that now, I have not seen him play yet.

hey didn't take Quinn because they didn't think he was a good fit at all for their offense. drafitng him "just because" as all the experts say ("you HAVE to take a franchise QB there no matter what!" ridiculous) is idiotic and goes against the development of your football team. they thought Beck was a better prospect anyway.

and clearly they think Ginn has a very bright future as WR and returnman, which he looked great at in both areas today. all those idiots that say he's a bad route-runner are hysterical, i'm still waiting to hear back from some folks on what exactly separates a good route-runner from a poor one, because they're just spouting off mindless dribble they read on some draft blog. like they actually watch any game film of any player's routes or even know what they're looking for when they do watch said film.

anywho, Beck looked like a rookie in his first start. but there were some very key positives:

    - Pocket presence. never sacked, pressured several times but escaped pressure with ease and got rid of the ball. there was one play on 3rd and short where he avoided the pressure and scrambled for a first down, and i swear he looked like Michael Vick with the ball. speed out of NOwhere.
    - Very quick decision-maker and quick release. but we knew this coming out of college.
    - No mistakes. none. he didn't force a pass he shouldn't have, he never threw to the wrong guy, he didn't fumble or force himself into a sack, despite plenty of pressure.

    now some negatives.

    - Got antsy. felt pressure a bit too much at times and threw the ball before the receiver was fully prepared to make a catch.
    - Inaccurate at times. mostly on the aforementioned negative point where he wasn't set and the ball sailed a bit. but even those passes, for the most part, hit Dolphins' hands.

overall, an excellent showcase of what Beck is all about: great decision-maker, great release, and he's not going to kill you.

as for Miami overall, brutal loss. the defense collapsed in the 2nd half. they just can't stop the run. at all. Feeley was completing lots of passes to open guys. the special teams, aside from Ginn's return, was pretty bad. Ginn got hit almost immediately on the other punt returns, although Philly did kick away from him on kickoffs after the punt return. our punter had a few bad ones off the side of his foot. Jay Feely missed a field goal.

that call on 4th and goal was brutal. but overall, Cameron calls a good game. i think he knows how to handle young QB's and how to manage their abilities for the gameplan.

If Ricky Williams can lay off the ganja, maybe they will win a game.
