Biggest take is the defense failed us again in another prime time game. Crennel's defense is only good against mediocrity to bad teams. He chokes up against Eltie teams.

The offense had it's flaws but they put us in a position to win.

Thank you Crennel and defense for blocking another beautiful winning drive by Watson and Bill O'brien's offense .

What is it now guys? 4 games? 4 times in the Watson era, he's balled out with his teammates and put his team in position to win with mere seconds remaining and all 4 times this RAC led defense has crapped on the living room shag rug.

At some point, BOB needs to start holding RAC accountable and if he can't get it together, he needs an apple and a road map along with his buddy Aaron.

5 actually, 5 in 25 starts. I'm posted the comparison in a couple of places so its floating around here somewhere but the closest one to that was Joe Montana with 5 in 215 starts.

The offense needs to stay aggressive the whole game.

No going into ball control up one score. The defense won't hold the lead.

I don't so much blame Crennel for that last play getting them into FG range. They played man and 4 of the 5 defenders had great coverage , Brees threw it to the only receiver that had any separation and it was Colvin who blew the coverage as he backpedaled 4 yards deeper than any other defender.

Here's a video link of the game highlights. At 13:46 you can see the critical error. 4 of the 5 Aints route runners are blanketed at or before the 40 - Colvin's back foot is at the 36 while his man is at the 41and a half.

The design was there to stop that play - the execution wasn't.

Guys, if the koolaide drinkers are right, then this loss doesn't matter because we're gonna be kicking ass the rest of the season anyway.

If you're like me, a card holding member of the Negative Nancy club, the game still doesn't matter because we're going to keep losing big games.

I'm just glad we have the Jaggies at our home opener to beat up on. No one in here is going to tell me the worthless Jaggies can beat us. (as long as Watson is the QB)

Kind of a weak pass rush, we should definitely try to add another ProBowl DE soon. Maybe we could acquire one for a 3rd round pick?

Like I said, they were terrible and they were brilliant. I count at least 11 times they were in 3rd-and-8 or longer. And really, about 8 of those times were 3rd-and-11 or longer. They spent a good portion of the game going backwards. You can't fight 3rd-and-long all season and expect to be great, especially if it's a result of going backwards. Like I said though, brilliant. Watson is a miracle worker and bailed the team out of those situations so many times last night. It's not realistic to expect that consistently, but I damn well enjoyed when it happened. I cussed a lot when they went backwards too.

And nothing about losing two timeouts on one challenge can be thought of as anything but terrible, or some synonym to that. Giving them a free FG attempt at the end of the game is not something I'd consider great either. That defense was awful.

So yeah, I stand by what I said.

Well, in point of fact, that was 11 more than Drew Brees put up in that same half.

And you, not me, used the word "remarkable".

The Texans just signed a corner.

Guess that was their take away.

Colvin had to know they only needed 8-10 yards. Its pretty obvious that the rest of the players in coverage understood that.

Merci had a stat line with a pick, sack, 4 solo tackles, 1.5 tfl, qb pressure etc. Not sure Clowney would have balled out more than that his first week back so all this we would have won with Clowney stuff is speculation to me. Yes, we are better with Clowney, but he would have somewhere had his 1-2 stupid plays. Also, after he blocked the Miami trade, he was not coming in, my humble OPINION

The take away …. Colvin blew the coverage. Colvin's bad. Colvin's been bad. We need a replacement!

We really could use Clowny about now. As a fan it sucks that some personality conflict made us lose Clowny. I get that we probably could not have kept him long term but by all accounts before the relationship really soured Clowny was going to play for us this year on the tag. We had the money. If only our head coach could put his personal feelings aside and really do "what is best for the team".
