So glad we penny pinched Clowney so we could turn around and give $33M to Nick freaking Martin.
Tunsil will get the biggest OL contract ever. We traded two 1st round picks for him and cannot let him walk. He knows this, which gives him all the leverage in negotiation.
Somehow or another a week into the season doesn't count. They did the same with Schaub.
Lmao at paying Martin the 8th most money of any center in the league when he was the 5th best in the AFC South alone last season. This front office just keeps making one bad deal after another.
Right, but any decent OT that signs the next extension will get the biggest contract ever. Better to sign Tunsil now, before they have to top another contract extension.
But, he’s a good teammate.
Absolutely. If you know you're going to do it then get out ahead of it and do it early.
Top dollar for a mediocre C. Yikes.
Martin not off to a good start this year either, on the field that is.
I'd give OB and Devlin's current OL 2 more starts....if nothing changes then it's time to make the changes now, for the future.
This would be a pathetic set of circumstances considering the money they decided to give Martin.
OB may be taking three tough strikes in WK1. First, the 2 TO gaffe.....not to be confused with a rookie HC mistake. Second, allowing RC to go prevent defense against Brees with 37 seconds on the clock and the Saints still in possesssion of a TO. On a side note.....why in the duck did OB decide to kick the ball into the endzone versus forcing a return to eat up some of the clock at 37 seconds left in the game? On another side note.....when has a RC defense ever made a crucial stop when the team absolutely needed it? Third, extending Martin when the team should've been looking at ways to trade him for another teams BU RT or OG.
Tunsil wasn't great last night either but is still learning the system. Has good feet. But shudder at what he'll cost
Team better suck it up and get an extension done based on what they gave up to get him. Nothing would deliver a throat punch more than realizing Tunsil could become known as a 2-1-1-2 rental.
For sure, they are going to have to.
Don't care what he costs, at 2 firsts and a second we better ufckin pay him to be around until 2050 - because he needs to be awesome and anchor the LT island for at least that long.
They do it for the “culture”.
I say you have lost your mind if you believe that O’Brien is benching his beloved Center. I only see that happening if Martin goes down again. Other than that, no dice!
This probably means OB is in charge of the OL. Bringing in Khalil and now this.
Agree that Martin will not lose his job. I think by seasons end the line will look:
LT - Tunsil
LG - Fulton
OC - Martin
RG - Scharping
RT - Howard
Besides the sack, I think Tunsil played well, no matter what PFF says...especially considering the time he has had in the offense. PFF graded Kelemete higher than any of our linemen, but the eye test says otherwise.
This lineup makes a lot of sense to me !
Would OB start two rookies on the right side? What about Johnson? Wonder if he’s getting starting RT reps in practice this week? Sharping news has been quiet lately. I have no problem with your OL but was just wondering if Johnson is better than any one of those five, uh four.
Can Martin move to L/R Guard in the future? Has he done it in the past?
Separate names with a comma.
