He just got out of rehab ~1 month ago...........and is still putting in his domestic abuse counseling and community service. After his multitude of brushes with the law including DUIs and NFL substance abuse infractions, Smith was supposedly suspended from the NFL the end of 2015 for 1 year............but, although he applied for reinstatment to the NFL and the Raiders, since he continued to enjoy the close company of alcohol and the police with incidents such as hit and run under the influence...........and .then after consuming 3 bottle of tequila, he went on to assault his then fiance..............while on bail for significant domestic abuse charges, he ignored the protective order and tampered with his electronic monitor............April last year, he was again arrested for violations of his bail.............last Nov, he reached a plea deal for the abuse case, allowing him to sub jail time with the aforementioned rehab, counselling and community service...............he has never been re-instated.................and HEB has never asked him to endorse their liquor department.............

Yeah, if I recall.. it was Wade's pick to make and Aldon Smith was his #1 player, but that's how it works out sometimes. To Wade's credit though.. Aldon Smith could play and was a beast, but he was also a huge dumbass.

No, they had a trade in place to move up and take Patrick Peterson but he was taken 1 pick before their partner. RS asked Wade if he wanted to go ahead with the trade and take Aldon. Wade said no.

    I've never heard this story.

Where did you hear it from?

I believe this possibly could've happened.

Cheaper than Kalil and more likely to make it thru a season. No idea why they went with Kalil.

-Kolton Miller 54.7 | 48.2 This is the guy who's gonna play LT for the Raiders instead of Trent Brown, the high-priced Pats free agent & starting Super Bowl LT, who Oakland just signed. Who get's that ?
    I dunno why

I always thought that they wanted Smith 1st and he got picked. I didn't know they had a chance to trade up for Smith and declined.

Wow, and to think lots of guys in here were pounding the table, demanding Brian Gaine hand Trent Brown over a blank check to get him in here ASAP. LMAO! Boy am I glad they don’t let fans run the organization...

Putting Watt aside for a second, can you imagine Patrick Peterson & in his prime JJo? - KJax in the slot.

Yep, I really wanted to trade up for Peterson.

Watt is one of the greatest DE's of all time. I great consolation prize.

Would you rather have Peterson (No Trades) or Watt?

Personally, I'd choose Watt. Peterson would have been very good here, too, but JJ's impact is greater. Peterson's impact without JJ would be limited and opposing teams would scheme around him.

Tough one. JJ is the much greater player in the history of the game. But PP has never missed a game and may play another 8 years. JJ will be lucky to get thru 3. As a fan I'd pick JJ, as a GM PP.

This all changes since we learned a few minutes ago that Peterson is suspended 8 games for what is apparently a PED violation.
As for Kareem Jackson, I'm wondering if his skillset (both plus and minus) meant he should have been moved to Safety years ago.
