wow.. have a team ever become so disillusioned by their coach before they even play their first game??

Nick Saban didnt really do him any favors by leaving him an aging roster with a BIG ? at QB. I think Saban really set that team back a couple years by building the roster the way he did an then bolting for bama.

nothing against Ginn, he's got elite speed and moves but drafting a return guy at #9? he'd better average 40 every kick off or some heads will be rolling for sure. :gun:

Seems to me that the Fish didnt give their players any insight into their draft plan prior to its execution .... and most teams dont . Remember last year when the Texans toom MW . A few people on here know DC and from talking to him had the idea that taking RB was a no brainer as well ..... The only people who really know which player a team is gonna draft are those in the draft room .

But if you look at the big picture now (several weeks after the fact) , it seems they had a plan in place and with some luck it would have worked out well ....

Obviously they and many other teams didnt have a high grade on Quinn which is why he fell to 20th .
Just look at what they had at QB at the time in Culpepper , healthy or not they probably expected him to be their QB of the forseeable future even if it wasnt this season . Thats why they make the trade for get Trent Green . With that they get a QB for a 5th rounder instead of a 1st and save some cap room in the process . A move which allowed Culpepper a full year to get healthy . Not very likely that Green is the Miami starter in 08 and Culpepper has a 5 year deal if I'm not mistaken . The fact that Culpepper made his demands for release , acting as if someone owes him a starting job kinda throws a wrench into that plan now .

i thought they put culpepper on the block. I've head trade rumors about him, none of which seem all that feasible but it seems the dolphins had some interest in moving him somewhere.

I still think when Saban made the gamble to move forward with his aging roster and hinge everything on being able to make playoffs with his current players, he really set the team back in the long run.

I hope Ginn does great though, sometimes i cant help but root for players that are in positions like him. He's going to have to prove himself to the Dolphins faithful to get any respect from them.

It was foolish to pass up Quinn for a big school Jerome Mathis II. Good luck making those big plays with constant hammy issues. I don't like the acquisation of Green either. I think he is fading very fast, and will be in the bottom handful of starting QB's this year. In addition, I'm personally not all that high on John Beck, who is supposed to be the future. I have my doubts if he will ever be a quality starter. I think they will easily be in the bottom 5 teams this year, and are in a big mess overall. I'll say they go 5-11 this year, which might be sligtly generous. I think Cam lasts maybe 2 years, and will be tossed out like yesterday's garbage.

Other than that, I think they are an up and coming team. :devilpig:

I hope reports that said if Ginn was there, we'd taken him, are false. I hope he does well though i understand what its like to have a franchise make an unpopular pick.

That said...College coaches making the jump make me nervous. They're pretty much used to be able to get first round talent handpicked and more then one at a time.I prefer an NFL predigree.

I don't really understand the Green Trade myself after spending a pick on Culpepper and the addition of John Beck. Did Saban just really not know how to work an NFL roster. At least their draft looked decent.

or if Ginn was absolutely their guy, i still think they couldve swung a trade and gotten him later and cheaper.

unless those reports about us taking him are true, but i really doubt that.

and while i think cam is a good coach, i just dont think he's gonna last given his situation. good luck though

If they had selected Quinn, and we ended up taking Ginn with Okoye on the board, I have been doing this - :gun:

Porky...you're just not thinking outside of the box... i mean imagine Ginn AND Mathis on kickoffs or punts. They'd have to squib kick it or just out of bounds

Hey, he makes plays, isn't that what many people were clamoring for with RB & VY? besides, i believe that had a very good draft, They still addressed their future @ QB with Beck in the 2nd & then got Satele 20 picks later. They got a RB type back in Booker from FSU so i kind of liked their top picks.

    Dolphins fans need to chill,

I haven't seen this much clamor among Dolphins and their fans ever since the laces out incident.
