Gary Russell and Brandon Jackson

Both have prototypical size for a RB and both should clock in a decent time in the 4.5 area for the 40yd.

jackson split time with 3 other RB's and should be available in the 5th unless he really blazes in the 40yd. Russell should be there in the 4th after sitting out a year. put up some big numbers while splitting time with maroney at minny.

just in case peterson doesnt get to us or we pass on him for some reason.

1-Laron Landry
2-Chris Houston
3-Kareem Brown
4-Brandon Frye
5-Brandon Jackson

With Landry and Houston, we should have a pretty good secondary. Kareem Brown applies pressure from the inside and frees up Mario. Frye is a decently mobile OL who has some upside. Jackson has a decent blend of size and speed and can catch the ball out of the backfield.

Completely agree on Brandon Jackson, I've seen him play afew times this year and I like what I see. He has potential, but was stuck behind a VERY crowded backfield. He has good size and decent speed, and can get people to miss. He's a great receiver out of the backfield as well which is what Carr loves. I think he goes in the 4th which I definitely wouldn't mind giving up for him!

I've heard a little about Alonzo Coleman from Hampton and he sounds like a decent late round option. He is here this week for the Shrine game so you can watch him this weekend, I've heard he's pretty solid allround as well, and being from a small school like that he is more likely to fall. However, looking for these sleeper RBs will likely leave us with another Wali Lundy type that is ok in a limited role but not suited to be a true #1 RB that we need. Kubiak and Rick Smith did spend time in Denver where they frequently found later round sleepers and had success with them, so I trust them to be able to find a contributing-caliber RB in the later rounds to at least come in and compete for a roster spot. However, I think we have enough of those contributing-type RBs and need someone that can be a major impact, so as long as they're not trusting in that system too much and relying on it to find a late round sleeper to carry our offense and ignoring real talents in the earlier rounds then I'd be fine with it.

I've had my eye on Coleman. He does have some solid numbers in college, 4600 rushing yards and 63 TDs so he does have a nose for goal line. Rumor is he runs in the 4.3s and he is invited to the combine, so we will see. Mork if you do make it to practice it would be great to read what you think of this kid.

I don't consider a trafficer any better than a toker. It means that he is still stupid enough to deal with the stuff. 5lbs of dro don't just show up in your car without you being associated with it to begin with. What report did you read that specificly said that no weed was found in his blood?

Germane Race of Pittsburgh State. Obviously, the level of competition he plays against can be put in to question, however anytime someone 107 touchdowns in their career deserves some kind of recognition. This is a guy who's career LOW was 17 as a freshman, only starting 8 games. He "regressed" this year with 31 touchdowns, in contrast to the 33 he scored last season. His power and ability to run between the tackles is excellent, and at worst case scenario, I see him being a very good goalline back/3rd down specialist.

Another one who I think translates as a better pro HB than he did on the college level is Tyrone Moss.

Auburn's recent track record with HBs has been very good.. I could see Irons sliding up in to the low first truthfully, and would grade him the 3rd best HB in the draft.

I know some people will use the "small school" arguement, but the Saints currently have two starters who last season were starters for Hofstra and Bloomsburg (PA) State. Walter Payton didn't exactly play Texas, Penn State and Alabama every week while putting up quality numbers at Jackson State. Neither did Jerry Rice at Mississippi Valley State. Good players are good players.

We don't need to draft him. If we are desperate for RT, we can pick him up right before camp starts because no NFL team short of Cincy will draft him or even sniff him in FA.

D.D. Terry from Sam Houston State looked real good when we(Txst) played him, and our D is geared to stop the run. He did pretty good against UT's run defense. No fumbles and 6,2 192. That sounds a lil skinny for a running back.

I personally compare Irons to a more athletic Wali Lundy. He's no where near the athlete that Portis or Bell are. He's solid in almost every way but is not special in any particular facet of the game. I don't like him as a 2nd rounder, maybe with our 3rd.

Will do, I've heard decent things about him all week. On a side note, it sounds like Baraka Atkins has been looking quite well, unfortunate that he didn't get into the Senior Bowl to play against the top competition. Dan Bazuin and Paul Williams have also looked pretty decent at times from what it sounds like.

No way anyone would be looking at Booker in the 2nd round. I'd start looking at him in the 4th round if we haven't gotten a RB by then and I'd be surprised if he's off the board by then. He's pretty similar to Leon Washington from last year and will likely go in a similar draft position.

A.Coleman has impressed me with how physical he has been. During one of the passing drills when he was going out for a pass, he ran right over Cal Poly LB Shotwell. He has really hit it in the hole hard and runs with authority. He is listed at about 200 pounds, but he runs like he's 10 pounds heavier. I don't know if teams will consider him a draftable prospect or not, but he's a tough sucker.

Another sleeper I'm gonna throw out there, who is more of a FB/HB tweener than an actual 30 carry a game guy is Brian Leonard of Rutgers. Guy looks like a Mike Alstott clone.
