Kubiak says they always go with scripted plays for the first drive of the game. I'm wondering over these last two games if we scripted plays on our first drive because we scored TDs on the first drives of our last two games.

It's not the first drive..... it's the first fifteen plays. They prepare it all week long.

Then at half time, they script about 8 plays or so.

Scripting shouldn't be seen as a rigid schedule of this play will follow that play, & regardless the outcome, we'll run this play next. It's much looser than that.

TexansChick did a blog about the scripting, & it was very informative. If you're interested, search her blog.

I'd like to read TexanChick's article about it, she's always got insightful stuff. As a fan, I've never been a fan because it always seems like we've been so flat. As a coach, I can see how it could be useful to see how the defense reacts to different plays and formations. Because in the end, you don't win the game in the first quarter. Football is more like a game of chess than most people realize.
