Found this when I was looking through some mock drafts. For those that know more about this..is there any merit to these figures? I have no idea where they came from. I posted this here because there are a lot of questions about our cap room and how possibly moving David Carr and signing other FA this offseason could affect this.

I'm thinking that 12.7 mill is how much we'll have to spend. 89 mill is the total team salary. so, 12.7 = about 1 nasty FA signing or a few decent ones.

I don't know if those are correct or not, but the cap always seems to rise every season. So if the Texans have $13 million to spend right now, I'm guessing an extra $4-5 million will be added if/when the cap raises. $100 million plus on a group of 53 guys. God our society is great...

I believe I remember hearing the Niners have about $40M in cap space and the Titans almost have that much as well. I don't think these are accurate.

The Colts better win this year, because they ain't gettin' any upgrades this offseason. Also, I believe they will lose Freeney, won't they?

Scary that the Chargers and Eagles two really good teams have that much cap space to play with.....

If we sign a guy for 5 years with a $25 million bonus, and $2.2 million salary, his cap hit may be as low as $7 million, & that would be one bad ass signing.

Cutting David is also supposed to give us $3 million, and the cap should be raised here soon..... so we're in pretty good shape.

What you meant to say was "That is another three million that we will never see again". Bet your bottom dollar that David is a Texan through 2007....

After we re-sign our guys and the draft picks, we should have enough for a certain NE corner...

I believe they let Edgerrin James go in hopes that they can have enough cap room to lock up Freeney long term.

I had a friend back in the day who told me NFL scouts said he was a LB prospect except for being to short and too slow .

Not bad, but not great either, abviously mediocre if we are 19th. The good part we have a lot of players, they were just injured. I don't see us signing more than one big name, so people who want clements and briggs, can't have both. I would much rather Michael Lewis and Asante Samuel, because we could aquire both by staying under our cap limit.

Wow, I thought our contracts were out of wack in relation to player performance. Oakland is really jacked if these numbers are true. To be 3rd from bottom and have the #1 pick? No wonder there's that rumor of wanting to trade some players with Atl and swap first round picks.

I'd hate to be the coach taking over the Raiders. One of the highest salaries and no cap room at all.

    Yuk!

I remember (or at least I think I remember) that the Colts wanted to put their big money on Reggie Wayne...which is why they couldn't afford Edge.
