I thought free agency was over weeks ago and we've concluded that Bob McNair is cheap, doesn't want a winner and doesn't care about rewarding players on this team that have played their heart out. :rake:

Here is the Karlos Dansby contract for a comparison.

    3/5/2010: Signed a five-year, $43 million contract. The deal contains $22 million guaranteed, including a $16 million signing bonus. 2010: $4.8 million, 2011: $2.7 million, 2012: $8.8 million, 2013: $6.05 million, 2014: $9.05 million, 2015: Free Agent

Neither Ryans, Pollard, nor Daniels were ever true FAs. The FA period that passed is a whole different monster now. Acquiring premium FA's now require a dash of pixie dust.

    This is great news!

If those numbers are correct (and I've noticed a lot of the first-reported numbers for Texans players have tended to be lower than the ones that get reported just a bit later), that's a good deal all around. It should put him among the top LBs in the league in terms of pay, but is not over-the-top crazy.

Plus, it makes Dunta's contract look even crazier than I already thought it was.

But, but the Chronicle didn't report about negotiations so obviously the Texans weren't making any effort to sign him.

True, but teams could still sign Demeco to a deal and make the Texans match. And there's no way it would be to the Texans benefit. All this is happening behind closed doors and there's just too many fans that want to throw mud at the Front Office before letting things play out.
