FWIW, don't know if there is anything to this.

Buddy of mine left a cell phone message saying we are going to sign Antowain Smith.

That'd be DD, Morency, Lundy, Smith, Wells, maybe D. Rhodes as an UDFA plus Cook. That's alot of guys in the backfeild.

if we sign Smith that basicly gives us 4 backs (which is about what we need)

DD, Morency, Lundy, Smith.

I could live with that.

Well.. he hasnt be re-signed and we are currently signing UDFA RBs.. that is a pretty big indication that Wells isnt high on our list IMO.

Id really like to bring him back, hopefully we still will.

I stand corrected. I just looked at the roster and Wells was there.

he is? there has been NO talk about him getting re-signed. No announcement or anything.

I'm puzzled by it too. I thought I saw a thread on the board that said he was off the roster.

Actually listening to Casserly this morning on 610 he hinted at the possibility possbility of signing another RB soon and the way he went about stating it made me curious about just who they were considering because it didn't sound like he was talking about adding a scrub RB at least from the tone of his conversation. If this is true and not just another rumor it makes sense. But as all things when it comes to rumors I am just going to take this with a grain of salt until otherwise.

They already have something like $100 million -- or will have -- tied up in the RB position with Bush, McAllister and Bennett there.

sorry Bobo.. my mistake heh.. when I said "NO talk" I meant there hasnt been any talk..not that there has been New Orleans talk :).

Dont ya hate it when people capitalize a word that they are emphasizing.. like someone else can read it and understand the cadence of thier voice.. morons :D

Wells is a free agent. He became one on or about March 3. He's not on anyone's roster.

Antowain has very little left in the tank. He'd be an emergency backup and occaisional goal line/short yardage guy.

Weird... no team listed on the NFL's site but he is still listed on the Texans site. And the Texans site is usually fairly accurate in regards to the roster.

Kubiak's got a formation he calls antpile. it's basically the normal five man o-line but instead of a qb taking the snap, it's a running back who does so. there are five other running backs lined up. two behind him, and the rest on the LOS. it's a pretty effective setup. no passing. pure running.

I like anytime you can look at a defense and basically point to where you are going and still get it done.

I'd pass on Smith. Don't need a 10 year back. Besides the new TE Owen Daniels was mentioned in a recent Chronicle article as a possible F/Back. He has excellent hands and good size. I could see him @ goal line or short yardage for a 1st down.

what ???
has denver ran this b4 ?

RB LT LG C RG RT RB RB

Very odd, especially the RBs on the LOS when they're obviously not going to be receivers.

edit: OK, now it's more odd. Gimme my spaces back! :)

What D would you run against that? A 4-7? :)

edit:

OLB LDE LDT RDT RDE OLB
OLB OLB MLB OLB OLB

That is an illeagl formation you can not have 8 players on the line only 7.

Oh, well isn't that what PowerfulDragon said?

I thought pretty hard on this one and even googled it. I wasn't gonna be the one to ask, though....when you said that Denver ran it 58 times.....sorta like shooting like 58 wolverines?

I cannot express how funny I thought this was.....
