I was talking to several tailgate ambassadors yesterday at the game and they mentioned that the Texans were thinking of moving to assigned parking in the blue lot next year. Has anyone else heard this too? Thoughts?

Seems to me it would be a huge cluster F if they actually moved forward with this plan.

The transition would suck and I don't know a fair way to do it, but once it is done, I cannot say enough times how much I love my assigned parking.

I do commercial parking lots. Give them my number. I will do it for them! We did a huge numbering job for the Tractor Supply distribution center out in Waco.

Mannn... I'd love to stripe Reliant Stadium.

I don't see how this could possibly be considered fair considering not all blue lot areas are created equal. You have much more room to tailgate in the lots south of the dome (lots with the blue line) than the lots south of Reliant. Not to mention all the spaces backing up to grassy areas, etc. Plus, I agree, getting to your space would be an enormous cluster *bleep*. Might possibly be the worst idea I've ever heard.

This would be a mess and like Vinnie said some parking spots would be more desirable. There would be a fight for the spots that butted up to a curb and the grassy areas.

Remember, Platinum used to be Blue. So there IS a way to designate assigned parking spaces (fair or not).

I guess it could be good for those who are there in the same spots all the time as long as they give them first shot at calling their spots. In the Yellow lot, for example, I know for a fact that the 1st 2 rows on the grass are pretty much the same people every game, in almost the same spots. You have to get there early, of course, but it's usually not a problem. If we weren't allowed to pick those spots when we've basically been there for 11 years, that wouldn't be good.

The first come, first serve first hour, or however long it is, let's people get to their spots anyway. It really only becomes a problem for the late games and the stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid decision they've recently come up with to not let us line up before the game like we've done every single game for 10 straight years. Did I mention how stupid it was?

Then there's the fact that our group usually has anywhere from 3 to 5 cars, depending on who's coming to that particular game and if they've got parking passes or not. The way it is now, we can all park together, but if we went to assigned parking, we wouldn't be able to do that any more.

Of course, not having to get up at 5:00 on a Sunday morning, just to get in line so we can get our spots might be nice, but I've been doing it for 11 years now so it's no deal breaker.

I'm glad they are coming by and asking our input though. Especially those of us who they know are there all the time.

Exactly Ryan!! Granted our "slice" of the old "Blue Lot" that transitioned into Platinum Lot was a bit difficult but you know what??? I personally think it eventually worked out WELL!!!!

To each his or her own, but I for one love getting my space and being able to show up 5 minutes before the gates open or 5 minutes after.

But if y'all don't mind waiting outside, no reason to change!
