Ok this is the Texans roster for now (I didn't count former Texans who are UFA):

QB: David Carr, Sage Rosenfels, Brandon Van Pelt, Quinton Porter

RB/FB: Ahman Green, Domanick Williams (Davis), Wali Lundy, Chris Taylor, Samkon Gado, Vonta Leach, Jameel Cook

WR: Andre Johnson, David Anderson, Kevin Walter, Jerome Mathis, Charlie Adams

TE: Owen Daniels, Jeb Putzier, Joel Dreessen, Ben Steele

O-Line: Chester Pitts, Steve McKinney, Mike Flanagan, Fred Weary, Ephraim Salaam, Charles Spencer, Eric Winston, Scott Jackson, Chris White, Drew Hodgden, Atlas Herrion

    -----------

D-Line: Mario Williams, Anthony Weaver, Jason Babin, Travis Johnson, N.D. Kalu, Anthony Maddox, Thomas Johnson, Alfred Malone, Earl Cochran, Tim Bulman

Linebackers: DeMeco Ryans, Morlon Greenwood, Danny Clark, Kailee Wong, Shante Orr, Charlie Anderson

Conerbacks: Dunta Robinson, Demarcus Faggins, Roc Alexander, Dexter Wynn, Von Hutchins, Jason Horton

Safeties: Glenn Earl, C.C. Brown, Jason Simmons

    Kicker: Kris Brown

    Punter: Cameron Muro

    Long Snapper: Bryan Pittman

    -------------------------------------------

This threat is an opportunity for us to do the 2007-2008 Texans Team

    ------------------------------------------

    1. Identify the needs of this team:

    #1 QB
    #2 WR
    Blocking TE
    LT and depth at OG/C
RE and DT to compete with Babin & Johnson
LB to play on Special Teams
#2 CB to compete with Faggins
FS or SS to compete with Earl & Brown
    Punter

    2. Moves in Free Agency

    - Trade David Carr to Minnesota for a 4th round pick
    - Release Domanick Williams (Davis)
    - Resign Troy Evans: He is a very good special teams player.
    - Sign Patrick Ramsay: He understands the game well. He is not the most gifted player but I think he can play well for us.
-Sign James Reed: Even if he's undersized, he plays very well at DT position. He's very quick and stop the run well.
-Sign Kelley Washington: He is a big and very fast receiver. He didn't produce well the last two years due to injuries but he can be sign at resonable price.
-Sign Derrick Frost on an offer sheet: He has powerful leg. Was 9th in the league last year for punt inside 20. If the Redskins matchs the offer there are no compensation.
-Sign Mike Doss: He's a reliable safety who play well in coverage. He hits hard and has a great speed.
-Sign Brandon Green: Provide depth at DE position. Cheap and can causes some surprises.
-Sign Roderick Hood CB: Provide depth at CB

    NFL Draft:
    1. Levi Brown OT PSU: He will become a very good LT in this league. Even it's not the most spectacular choice, it's maybe the better
    2. Robert Meachem (or Sidney Rice) WR Tennessee: Great size, terrific speed. Will become the perfect #2 WR with Andre Johnson
    3. Kevin Kolb QB Houston: A project QB, who shoulb become a reliable starter.
4(a). Kenny Scott CB Georgia Tech: Great size, Good speed. Should become a #2 CB in the NFL.
4(b from Min). Matt Spaeth TE Minnesota: The Blocking TE that the Texans need. He will form a very good duo with Owen Daniels.

    For the 5th, 6th and 7th round I have no real idea maybe a LB a G and a FS/SS

    -----------------------
    Training Camp cut:
Jeb Putzier, Samkon Gado, Brandon Van Pelt, Charlie Adams, Joel Dreessen, Atlas Herrion, Scott Jackson, Earl Cochran, Tim Bulman, Jason Horton, Von Hutchins, Cameron Muro

    New Texans:

QB: Patrick Ramsay, Sage Rosenfels, Kevin Kolb, Quinton Porter (PS)

RB: Ahman Green, Wali Lundy, Chris Taylor

    FB: Vonta Leach, Jameel Cook

WR: Andre Johnson, Robert Meachem, Kelley Washington David Anderson, Kevin Walter, Jerome Mathis

TE: Owen Daniels, Matt Spaeth, Ben Steele

OT: Levi Brown, Ephraim Salaam, Charles Spencer, Eric Winston

OG: Chester Pitts, Steve McKinney, Fred Weary, Chris White (he can also play at C)

    C: Mike Flanagan, Drew Hodgden

    -----------

    LE: Jason Babin, N.D. Kalu

RE: Mario Williams, Brandon Green, Alfred Malone

DT: Anthony Weaver, Travis Johnson, James Reed, Anthony Maddox, Thomas Johnson

OLB: Morlon Greenwood, Danny Clark, Shante Orr, Charlie Anderson

    MLB: DeMeco Ryans, Kailee Wong

CB: Dunta Robinson, Demarcus Faggins, Kenny Scott, Roc Alexander, Dexter Wynn, Roderick Hood

    FS: Mike Doss, C.C. Brown

    SS: Glenn Earl, Jason Simmons

    K: Kris Brown

    P: Derrick Frost

    LS: Bryan Pittman

Wow! Good post. It looks like you put quite a bit of thought into it. Of course I don't agree with everything you have here, but that's to be expected. Like they say, "you can't please everyone."

Here's what I would like to do if I were GM:

FA's (the ones signed and the ones I hope to sign)
    1) Ahman Green, RB
    2) Danny Clark, LB
    3) Carlisle, OG
    4) Hamlin or another FS
    5) Patrick Ramsey, QB
    6) Dayne, RB (resign)
    7) Troy Evans, LB (resign)
    8) Vonta Leach, FB (resign)

    Draft
    1) Amobi Okoye, DT
    2) Staley or Ugoh, LT
    3) Stanton or Kolb, QB
    4) Coe or Bain, CB
    4) Andy Alleman, OG (extra 4th for trading Carr, wish we could get a 3rd, but..)
    5) Quincy Black, OLB
    6) Sepulveda, P
    7) Jerard Rabb, WR

As far as cuts, well, I think it's pretty much a done deal on DD/DW. Also, I think Gado, Hodgdon, Orr, Cook, and Wong might be cut too.

That would leave the team looking like this:

    QB Ramsey, Rosenfels, Kolb/Stanton
    RB Green, Dayne, Taylor, Lundy
    FB Leach
WR Johnson, Walter, Anderson, Rabb, Mathis
    TE Daniels, Putzier, Steele
    OT Staley/Ugoh, Spencer, Winston, Salaam
    OG Pitts, Weary, Carlisle, Alleman
    C McKinney, Flanagan

    LE Weaver, Kalu
    RE Williams, Babin
    DT Okoye, Thomas Johnson
    DT Maddox, Travis Johnson, Malone
    SLB Clark, Black, Anderson
    MLB Ryans, Polk
    WLB Greenwood, Evans
    CB Robinson, Alexander, Wynn
    CB Coe/Bain, Faggins
    FS Hamlin/FA, Jason Simmons
    SS Earl, Brown

    K Brown
    P Sepulveda

Well, that's my choices. Don't think it will turn out that way, but it's fun to speculate! JMHO!

You can probably scratch Porter too. He's been sent to NFL Europe which usually means they think you're not good enough to play in the NFL.

I know. QB would by far be the weakest position. That's my big ?. Perhaps we could draft Drew Stanton and let him sit for a year and let Kubes teach him.

I wasn't really caring who got cut and drafted, so i cut and pasted this...with minor changes. I really don't se Carr gone till after this season. And the odds of Sage starting ae the same as Randy Moss playing QB for a high school team. He just dosen't have it to go 16 or more games. And mop up duty dosen't make a good QB.

    Stats tell the tale:

    CARR
GP PYDS PCT TDs INT RATING
    16 2767 68.3 11 12 82.1
    http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/306268
    Rosenfels
GP PYDS PCT TDs INT RATING
    4 265 69.5 3 1 103.0
    http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/235151
    Pos Rank Pts
    Quarterbacks 86 -91.24

Now, why is a key information source even saying Carr is better? Compare the stats, and remember it was in injury/mop up time. Also, in 2 of the games Sage was in...he was aginst second string guys. NO WONDER he is rated as a -91.24(NEGATIVE) and at #86 of the QBs in the NFL for fantasy draft.

Keep Wong as backup MLB and nickel LB. He's played fairly well at MLB before, and he's a savy vet that can offer leadership. Not sure what his cap hit is, but maybe he would restructure his contract to help out.
