Was just looking at the stats and I think Steve Slaton overtook Chris Johnson today to tie up the rookie rushing title(?)

    If so, congrats to Steve.

Steve owes it to the defense... what a big advantage for him to have them shut down Forte and CJ!

Not forgetting the O-line stepping up their play, Gibbs' scheme, and his own personal endeavour.

It really is a great achievement for the team as a whole.

^ He also owes it to Tennessee not playing their starters very much today.

This is what I added up after today's games:

    Slaton - 1,282 yds.
    Forte - 1,238 yds.
    Johnson - 1,228 yds.

He should have the rookie rushing title. Congrats Double S!!

You might take that view, if you had become too comfortable in your team's inadequacy, and were unable to enjoy success.

Fact is, we have weapons all over the show on offence, the defence stepped up big time in the run in, and we were only a couple of heart-in-mouth moments away from the playoffs this season, and with a few additions and if we get a little more consistant play are nailed on playoff side next season.

Well, Speed Slaton didn't start from the beginning of the season. That and CJ had Lindale White to keep him fresh, where as Slaton took the bulk of the carries. Also, our bye week was week, freakin two! So, CJ definitely did what he did on fresher legs. The fact of the matter is, Slaton won out...

what are you talking about? I just pointed out that the reason Slaton got the rookie rushing title was probably because CJ didn't even play today. Not saying Slaton hasn't been very, very good this season. This has nothing to do with us making the playoffs or our "weapons all over the show on offense."

Very true. Slaton did get opportunities from the very beginning though, just like CJ. Although and one could make the argument that since Slaton did in fact get the bulk of the carries, he should have gotten more yards anyways.

No matter, I'd take Steve over CJ any day.

Calm down there mate, I was only pointing out the other positives that the award recognises and trying to make the point that it isn't simply a case of "CJ didn't play today so we'll let Steve have it"

True, but Steve didn't wasn't named the starter until several games into the season. Chris Johnson was in the line up from the start. Kubes is hesitant to start Rookies.

If SS was the #1 back all season it would be a better comparison.

Either was SS is a stud!!!!!

Unofficially 1282 Yards Rushing for SS!!!!!! Regardless of Chris Johnson, any Rookie that goes over 1000 yards has to be pretty good.

Also it looks like AJ should be the #1 WR is yardage. Of course we've all known that he's the best WR in the NFL.

I also think Slaton led all AFC backs in yards from scrimmage this year. Yet no Pro Bowl.

I heard earlier on the post-game show that he had 15 starts this year. It stuck me funny since it didn't seem like he had started in more than 12-13 or so.

We all know he should be going to Hawaii, just like last year with Mario.....no respect.

My daughter says SS is "tiny, but awesome."

    I agree.
