A thought occured to me while I was reading some posts on TexansTalk. What if teams waited until after the preseason before deciding on how much money to give a rookie? Wait a few weeks after the preseason is over to give teams time to negoiate, and if a player refuses to agree before the start of the season he can't play for that season OR he CAN play during the season but has to give up signing bonus/or donate it to a charity?

    Just a thought...

No way would an agent let their player play the preseason, and risk a career ending injury, without a contract

bingo. they wouldn't even go to camp without a contract, which just makes sense anyway, because technically they're not a part of the team until they got ink on paper.
