Translation from the owners and NFL execs: Roger Goodell made us a butt ton of money. Keep that gravy coming R-dawg!

The NBA has made me come to appreciate Goodell.

After watching NBA and MLB's popularity struggle, I am sold on Goodell despite all the rule changes. I think he has done well with the image of the brand during these difficult economic times.

But I thought you would like Goodell. He is a liberal afterall.

Surely Goodell cant ruin the NFL in 4 yrs?

I miss Tags. Goodell is slowly destroying the integrity of the game with his lawyered-up fine print rules and judgement calls that radically alter the game day experience and put the Refs in unwinnable situations, players flagged in unstoppable collisions, and fans in a grumbly mood from week to week.

The extention proves the the owners dont care about the game.

But they do care about the $$$$.

Everyday Goodell should thank Kraft for getting the new CBA done. Goodell is just short of being incompetent. IMHO

Tackling is too uncivilized if he wants the game to migrate over to UK. Super Bowl L, as in Super Bowl London?

Too true. Don't want any rough stuff in the UK.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Rugby.

Hopefully let's hope not! We can only hope not as Goodell I saw on 60 Minutes on Sunday, seems to be a decent person.

Vinny, while I agree with you on Goofell, I disagree about Tags... Paul Tagliabue did everything in his power to let LA win the 32nt expansion team in the league, and for that, I hold some animosity (bending over for LA)!!!

Back to your original premise about Goofell, I totally agree. He will EFF this thing up!!!

It seems next to impossible for any commissioner in any of the major sports to get fired. David Stern's had two lockouts during his tenure, as well as numerous markets who are struggling to support their teams, but he's still there. Bud Selig had the entire postseason and World Series cancelled because of his lockout, a huge disparity between the good and bad teams, but he still has a job. Gary Bettman had an entire season cancelled under his watch and he still has a job too. Roger Goodell could cancel an entire season and turn the NFL into flag football and he'd probably still have a job.

Bottom line rules - fact is the NFL is a powerhouse economically at the moment, and I'm sure a lot of credit is due to Goodell for that. The owners certainly appriciate it.
