For the record, Kubiak was asked about protecting Grossman with some conservative calls and he said he didn't want to order 'off' the Denny's menu....he was sticking to the script.

"Captain Gary, there is a big old ice cube dead ahead!"

"Damn the ice cube! Stick to the script!"

Maybe Celine Deon can come up with a tear jerker about our "Titanic"? Lord knows I cry when I see the way we play.

Before the 2nd Colts game we hadn't scored a TD on the first drive of a game all year. Stick to the script Gary, its bound to work eventually.:rake:

They already knew that Grossman likes his eggs scrambled, wheat toast, and bacon, so no need to go over the Denny's menu with him.

This doesn't surprise me, though. Kubiak is always far from the players, and is usually standing 30 yards from the LOS with the training staff. He rarely interacts with players, and I have yet to see him get in the middle of his offensive players for an impromptu meeting of the minds to discuss strategy or make adjustments. It makes sense that the OC would take on the same temperament as the HC, which appears to the average fan as aloof and deep in his own thoughts.

They knew Schaub was going to get a shot and be back.

They didn't care what Grossman did, because they knew he was coming back to the field. I know that's a stretch to believe...but I have to believe that they knew it was a dislocation and Schaub made a point to have someone radio Kubiak and Shanahan that he'd be out there pretty soon.

They didn't count on him throwing the pick, but it happened. There was no sense of urgency with Grossman, IMO, for that reason. At least I have to try and force myself to believe that this could be a possible reason.

Otherwise, this is a vampire that is immune to everything. It won't die.

So we go strictly with conservative runs as your option? Like Jax wouldn't have been expecting that one huh???

Monday morning quarterbacking is fine and all, but at least offer up what you would have preferred to see as an option. If all we're going to do is hand the ball off when Schaub isn't in there, then let Casey play as the backup qb and save a freaking roster spot.

This thread makes zero sense, but in the current blind hysteria, I can see why it gains life.

Its called making adjustments. All good coaches do it. Which is exactly the point. Kubiak doesnt have any of the qualities of a good coach. Im still waitimg for the apologist to answer these questions.

Put the win loss record asside and look at coaching ability, Kubiak has shown no improvement in his four years in that capacity. Has his game preperation gotten better? Has his game decisions gotten better? Has his personell decisions gotten better? Has his clock management gotten better? Has his leadership abilities gotten better? How about his ability to make adjustments in games? Can you honestly say he is a better coach now than he was when he got here?

What is it that makes you think Kubiak has improved as a head coach enough to take this team to the next level?

I'm not sure either way. I think the team is but a couple of players away from making a good playoff run, but is Kubiak the problem....I don't know.

The players showup each week ready to play, and play hard. I've seen other NFL teams fold up at this point and not make the effort, so that is one positive in his corner. I don't think there's a team in the league that see's us on the schedule and chalks it up as a "W". They know they're in for a good game either on the road or at home.

I don't want to be cast as the guy who defended Kubiak blindly, I just don't want us to become a knee jerk franchise, going through coaches in the hope you'll find the diamond in the rough...but in the meanwhile you disrupt any continuity the team has as far as overall philosophy. As a season ticket holder, I want to win as much or more than anyone, I just don't want the team to become a turnstile for coaches coming and going.

To answer your question, yes...he is a better coach than when he got here. Is it good enough, well, I think there are better football minds over on Kirby that will make that call. I do find it odd that the same folks who were yelling "playoffs or bust", even before training camp, are some of the same who are calling for Kubiaks firing. Go figure?

Possibility of 3 coaches in 8 seasons? I dunno guys...it's a coin flip as to what you can get there. If he does get fired at seasons end, I'll hope that his replacement can bring something extra, although I think unless Vince Young (or a similarly mentally challenged individual) is the coach in 2011, this team will be ready for a very good push.

You know what HC does? Cowher. Schottenheimer. Jeff Fisher, Harbaugh.

NFL films Presents...Mik'd UP with Kubes and Lil' Shanny

Lil' Shanny: "Hey Kubes, Schaub out first play of the game on that 3 step drop, 'get the ball out quickly' play call"

Kubiak: "Hold on, I'm looking at the menu"

Lil' Shanny: "Rex not warmed up...script or no script?"

    Kubiak: "huh?"

Lil' Shanny: "Script, or let Rex get his feet under him since he isn't warmed up yet?"

Kubiak: (facing the wrong way) "They sure did a good job laminating the game plan this week".
