Raiders' Passing Game

How bad is this passing game? Their top two receivers are Zach Miller, who is actually a good tight end, and Darren McFadden. Miller has 50 catches and McFadden has 22 catches. Also Michael Bush, a RB, is their 4th leading receiver with 18 catches. None of their receivers are above 20 catches and their only receiver above 200 yards is Johnnie Lee Higgins.

I'm not sure I have ever seen such terrible numbers from a group of receivers.

They are the worst passing team in the league @ 142 yards per game. Yikes.

Michael Crabtree anyone?

Personally, I wasn't real high on Jamarcus Russell when he was coming out of College. So far he's proven my original thoughts correct.

Couple that with mediocre WR's and a porous Oline and you get 142 yds/gm.

Yeah, he was very overrated. I liked Quinn as a QB better, but Peterson or Joe Thomas should have been the pick. Al's an *****.

Russell's numbers have been improving the past few weeks. We better not take them lightly. They went into Denver and beat the Bronces a few weeks ago....

Yeah, they also beat the Jets. We need to jump on them early and often - reminding them of who they are and their place in the NFL, which is under our cleats.

I'm thinking Kevin Walter is going to have HUGE game... Asomugha will be all over AJ, and while I still think AJ could get the best of him - Schaub will probably be finding Walter open a LOT.

True, but their 2 wins against the Jets and Broncos weren't because of JM. In the Jets game he was 17 of 30 for 203 yds and a TD. Against the Broncos he was 10 of 11 for 152 and a TD.

They won those games due to winning the turnover battle. IMO, that would be the only way we lose....by shooting ourselves in the foot. Which happens quite a bit.

Well, AJ did pretty much run a clinic on how to dominate a pro-bowl CB last week. He was embarrasingly open on a guy who claimed to be with the league's best for almost the whole game and when McBurned-again actually got close AJ just made the play anyway.

Walter has had his moments though, proven quite a lot this season even with little to prove. Daniels is who I'm going to look at for a big game, he's been too quiet for too long.

I think the difference in the Oakland game is that even though Asomugha is great - the Raiders won't be stupid enough to leave him in single coverage with AJ after he slapped Torchland Burnedagain around like he was a little child. So it will be Aso and another defender on AJ, which will open things up for KW and probably OD as well.

From what I've heard, the Raiders D does a lot of what our D does. A lot of the time, they line Asomugha up on a side and don't really pay much attention to where the #1 receiver is. So AJ might NOT be on Asomugha the entire game and it may be rather easy to scheme to get him free.

I have to admit that this game scares me.
* It's between the Titans and the Bears
* It's against a team we've never lost to
* The Raiders have had a horrible season
* We're riding our first ever 4 game winning streak.

This has let-down all over it. Kubiak's got to do a good coaching job to keep everyone focused on this one.

I thought Russell was really overrated no way the #1 player. Though at the time Calvin Johnson should have been their pick. Still would have been smart but Joe Thomas is amazing, JT's best player in that draft. They NEED to get one of the LT's this year and will have a shot at most of them. Oher, Smith, Monroe... But with Davis running it, Crabtree would be the favorite.

Anyways, the thing that worries me with the Raiders is their return game. I still think we win but we need to keep their return specialist Higgins in check.
